Beverley Town becomes food bank drop-off point

14th October, 2023

Beverley Town FC have linked up with East Yorkshire Food Bank to provide a permanent drop-off point for donations.

With the Beavers now attracting average home attendances at Norwood of more than 300 in Toolstation NCEL Division One, the club is keen to encourage matchday supporters to bring items to the game and donate them to this incredible cause, but also for anyone living locally to be able to use the club as a drop-off point. Even just one item per person would make all the difference.

The donation point will be in place for the next home match, against Swallownest FC this afternoon, and will remain at the clubhouse from then onwards.

Beverley are also keen that away supporters to Norwood are aware of the donation point, as every club in the NCEL will appreciate the role that sports clubs can play within their communities and the importance of giving back to those who need it most.

A club spokesperson said: “We know that times are tough for so many people these days and feel at Beverley Town that we’re in a position to help.

"With our attendances on the increase this season and a real community feel to the club, not just from the football side, but all the other sports played down at Norwood, we feel that we can make a difference.

"We’ve noticed that matchday food bank stations are something that professional clubs in this country have started to set up, and if every supporter coming to a match brought just one item, then we’d have 300 or more items each time that can make all the difference to families in East Yorkshire.

"As the nights get longer and people need to spend more on energy and heating bills, every little thing that we can do can go a long way."
