Fox leaves Cobras

18th January, 2017

Clipstone have announced that Billy Fox has resigned from his position as manager of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division club.

The news comes a week after the Cobras tendered their resignation from the league but have since had their future secured as a club and therefore remain in the competition.

Clipstone have thanked Fox, whose last match was a 2-1 win at Parkgate on Saturday, for his efforts in the dugout and have stressed that the parting is entirely amicable.

They also say that a further announcement will be made about the manager's position in due course.

Fox said in a statement: "The club wish to proceed in a different direction and I wish to place on record my thanks to the chairman Dave Paling and the committee for their support during my tenure at the club.

"Since taking over near the end of last season, I hope that myself and the players have left the club with memories of the famous win at Tadcaster Albion last season and reaching the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup Final where we were only denied by a last minute equaliser and lost on penalties to higher ranked Basford United.

"This season, we were the first team to win at Bridlington Town and are still the only team to stop Cleethorpes Town winning all their home matches whilst our home draw against Pickering Town is the only time they have not won on the away in the league this season.

"I have assembled a group of players that are coveted by many clubs at this level and above.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the players for the support they showed for the club under difficult circumstances at Parkgate.

"I intend to get back into football management at the earliest opportunity with a club that my ambitions and I am currently considering my options.

"I hope all the local people who have come forward to say they will support the club are at the ground on Saturday as volunteers are the lifeblood of non-league football and without them all clubs will continue to struggle with the sheer workload required to run a club at this level.

"Finally I would like to wish the incoming management team all the best.

"Up the Cobras!"
