New chairman at Briggers
1st March, 2015
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic have announced that local businessman Jonathan Cotterill-Bolsover is their new chairman.
He will take up the position at the Toolstation NCEL Division One club in which he has been a coach for the last three years.
Cotterill-Bolsover, who lives in Pilley, Tankersley, is owner of Active Educational Services Limited who are providers of school sport and education services in Barnsley and surrounding areas.
He said: "It is an absolute privilege to hold such a position at a club at which I have served as a coach and that has so much tradition within the local area.
"It is an exciting time for non-league football in Barnsley, perhaps at its peak with some great clubs making huge steps in the Northern Counties East League with lots of new clubs also with big ambitions breaking through.
"I am humble to the work that has gone before me and mention must be made to the departing chairman Mr John Cooper who has worked tirelessly to keep the club moving into the present day, he has deserved his retirement and can now sit back and enjoy his football once again.
"The players, coaching team and the dedicated team of volunteers are what make this club and I will endeavour to make strides to improve the club on all fronts, particularly within the local community and from a financial point of view, although my involvement on the front line of day to day team running will be left to the management staff.
"I strongly believe that development is the way forward and that high quality coaching from juniors through to under 19s and beyond will be the key to the future success of the club and this will be my ethos for the club with plans to develop junior sides, run school schemes and continue the high quality development work that has gone into our young players who are now breaking through into higher level football.
"There is a lot of work to do over the next few years, but I am determined to take the club into a new era.
"I hope to be introducing work and educational training programmes for local people and local schools to get the community involved with the club whilst improving their future employment prospects - there will be many more things going on down at Park Road as these schemes get under way.
"It would be great to hear from anyone wanting to get involved at the club in any way, we are committed to development for all."
