Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2023/24 #40

14th December, 2023

Swallownest picked up their first win of the season and moved off the bottom of Toolstation NCEL Division One with a 2-1 home victory over Glasshoughton Welfare in midweek.

Their game was the only match that survived the bad weather on Tuesday and the hosts took full advantage even though they went behind to Aaron Gray's opener for the visitors on 57 minutes.

Ashley McEwan's spot-kick brought them back level and, on the verge of stoppage time, Brandon Hooley grabbed a winner for the home side who leapfrog Ollerton Town to jump out of the basement.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday's action, a last gasp equaliser from Thomas Waudby for visitors Barton Town saw the spoils shared in a 1-1 draw at Handsworth.

Mitchell Dunne had seemingly given the hosts all three points in the 84th minute before the Swans pounced in injury time to claim a point that keeps them fifteenth whilst the Ambers stay in tenth.

And, in the Derbyshire Senior Cup, Shirebrook Town were unable to cause an upset in their Third Round tie as they were beaten 2-0 at Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division side Matlock Town, conceding a goal in each half.
