Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2016/17 #52

Rainworth Miners Welfare battled hard in the Notts Senior Cup in midweek at home to Evo-Stik League side Basford United but were unable to book their place in this season's final.

They went down 2-0 with Ben Hutchinson converting two spot kicks for the visitors at Kirklington Road in the only game to survive the wet weather on Tuesday.

Teversal have a chance to face Basford for the trophy should they beat Carlton Town in the second semi-final next week.

Two games went ahead on Wednesday with second placed Pickering Town cutting the gap to Premier Division leaders Cleethorpes Town to five points with a 3-2 win at Worksop Town.

The Pikes led twice through Joseph Danby and Eddy Birch but a Kyle Jordan penalty and a Mitcham Husbands strike made sure the game was level going into the final quarter-of-an-hour.

But, Ryan Cooper popped up in the eightieth minute with Pickering's vital third goal to make it twelve wins out of thirteen away matches in the league.

And, in Division One, Hallam tightened their grip on sixth spot and a play-off place as they won 1-0 at home to Dronfield Town.

Tom Roebuck scored with twenty minutes remaining at Sandygate to stretch their advantage over seventh placed Knaresborough Town to four points.
