Penistone Church beat fellow Toolstation NCEL Division One visitors Hallam on Wednesday to book their place in the last four of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.They went behind in first half stoppage time to a Matty Ord strike but Andrew Ring levelled early in the second period and that is how it stayed until the last minute of extra time.
Scott Whittington grabbed a dramatic winner for Penistone as they went through to the semi-finals courtesy of a 2-1 victory.
It was one of only two games played in midweek with the other in the Premier Division as
Maltby Main climbed to sixteenth thanks to a 3-2 home defeat of
Staveley Miners Welfare who stay ninth.
Kurtis Morley broke the deadlock for the visitors on fourteen minutes but they quickly found themselves behind thanks to goals from Ryan Carroll and Lewis Bemrose.
Bemrose then grabbed his second and Maltby's third on 57 minutes and, although Shaun Nesbitt pulled one back for Staveley on the hour mark, that proved to be enough for their fourth home league victory of the season.
The other Premier Division match planned for midweek between
Harrogate Railway Athletic and
Hemsworth Miners Welfare on Tuesday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
