FA response regarding fixtures

1st March, 2024

The FA have released a note to all Step 5 and 6 Leagues in the National League System, including the Toolstation NCEL, with regards the end date of the season following one of the wettest winters on record.

The Met Office announced today that the past three months have been the eighth wettest winter across the UK since 1836.

This bad weather has led to major disruption over that time to the league's fixtures schedule with the 23-team Division One being particularly badly affected.

And, although we are not at a critical stage, our General Manager Matt Jones contacted the FA regarding a possible extension to the season, if necessary.

Chair of the FA's Leagues Committee Mark Frost said in the note released today:

"The Season end date of 27 April 2024 is set and remains unchanged.

"All League matches affecting promotion / play off places and relegation must be completed by 27 April.

"Play off matches have been set for finals concluded by Monday 6 May (taking into consideration the Bank Holiday weekend).

"We can allow matches that have no affect on Promotion / play off positions or relegation to be played no later than Saturday 4 May, for example at the end of 4 May leagues will have completed all fixtures, with play offs completed by 6 May.

"Thank you for your continued hard work."
