Denton and Poulter take over at Wrens
5th May, 2017
Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Rainworth Miners Welfare have announced that former Worksop Town assistant boss Craig Denton and Rob Poulter have been appointed as their new management team.
A statement from Wrens chairman Les Lee said: "It has been well documented that last season had been very difficult, both on and off the pitch, with the sad loss of Kim and Eileen Wright and our battle against relegation.
"When Julian Watts and Ady Smith left, by mutual agreement, at the end of the season, the club produced a blueprint of the requirements for any future manager, whilst taking our continued status at Step 5 in the NCEL into consideration.
"After meeting with Craig earlier in the week, we were impressed by how close to that blueprint he was.
"With the need for expediency to enable the new manager the longest possible preparation for pre-season, we feel it is necessary to make this early announcement.
"The club would like to thank all those who have expressed an interest in the post and wish them well for the future."

Wrens part company with Watts
3rd May, 2017
Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Rainworth Miners Welfare have parted company with manager Julian Watts and his assistant Ady Smith.
A statement from the club said: "The parting of the ways, by mutual consent, has come about at the end of a disappointing season for the Wrens, who only guaranteed their continuing place in the Premier Division in their penultimate game of the season.
"The duo took over the hot seat following Rainworth's step down from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League in the summer of 2015, with an impressive record at Hallam and then Shirebrook Town.
"However, the club believe the side has under-achieved in the two years since dropping into the NCEL, and now they are looking for a new manager to steer them in the right direction."
Chairman Les Lee has thanked Watts and Smith for their efforts and hard work for the club, and added: "We part as friends, and both Julian and Ady will always be welcome through our gates. We wish them well wherever their next move takes them."
Rainworth now hope to appoint a successor quickly so that planning for season 2017-18 can begin as soon as possible.

More tragedy for Wrens
19th October, 2016
Just five days after losing vice-chairman Kim Wright to cancer, Rainworth Miners Welfare and Kim's family have been dealt a further blow with the death of his mother Eileen who has succumbed to the same disease.
Eileen, aged 81, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday morning without ever knowing that her son had gone on before her.
The widow of the late Alan Wright, Eileen's association with the club had lasted throughout her adult life, supporting Alan in his days as Rainworth's goalkeeper and then, following his retirement from playing, maintaining that support when her husband decided to 'put something back' into the club.
The couple's greatest joy in footballing terms was in season 1981-82 when, in his first season s club secretary, Alan masterminded the administration of the Wrens' magical run to Wembley in the FA Vase, which included a home semi-final attendance of 5,071, still a competition record.
Following Alan's death in 2002 Eileen continued her association with the club, as it rose through the ranks from the Notts Alliance to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, and also took part in many other activities, notably her Sunday morning walks which continued right into the early months of the current year.
She took over the role of hospitality hostess in 2010, a major factor in making the club highly regarded in the Evo-Stik League, and on home match days could also be found selling golden goal tickets as supporters came through the gates. And she was a leading light in maintaining the ground and facilities to a high order during the close season.
Each year since Alan's death Eileen had made it her business to sponsor the club's first home FA Vase match, or during the five years of Evo-Stik League membership, the first home FA Trophy tie.
She took ill towards the end of last season, and although she deteriorated during the close season and was unable to return to the ground, her interest was maintained as she always wanted to know the club's results and how they had played after each match. Her passing marks the end of a long family dynasty at Rainworth Miners Welfare Football Club.
As with Kim, Eileen's funeral details will be released as and when they are known.

Wrens mourn death of vice-chairman
16th October, 2016
Rainworth Miners Welfare are deeply saddened to announce the death of vice-chairman Kim Wright, aged just 55.
Kim lost his long battle with cancer on the evening of Thursday 13th October when he passed away at Nottingham's Queens Medical Centre.
However, it was felt that he would not have wished for Saturday's match against Bridlington Town to be postponed, so the game went ahead as normal, with a minute's silence in his memory before kick-off.
The son of former Rainworth guru the late Alan Wright and his wife Eileen, Kim played as a central defender for the club in the mid to late 1980s, and following his playing days he served the club quietly behind the scenes, scorning any official position, until taking over as chairman in 2012, a position he held until stepping down to allow new investment in the club by solar panel company Green Energy, with Mark Hawkins taking over.
When Mr Hawkins left the club to return to Mansfield Town, Kim continued to work tirelessly for the Wrens, refusing the post of chairman because of his illness but serving as vice-chairman, while his company, MSS (Mansfield Sprinkler Services) Ltd became major sponsors.
He carried on attending matches for as long as his health allowed, just weeks before his passing, and even then remained heavily involved right until his final few days.
Chairman Les Lee said: "We've known for some time that Kim's time with us was limited. It was something he accepted philosophically, but his loss will leave a big hole in the club which will be impossible to fill.
"We send our love and our deepest condolences to his wife Anne and to all his family."
The date, time and place of Kim's funeral will be published as soon as it is known.
