Landmark Game For Eagles

26th March, 2009

This weekend's KoolSport NCEL Premier Division match is a special one for Arnold Town.

Their home clash with Hall Road Rangers will be their 1,000th competitive fixture.

The club was formed in 1989 from the merger of Arnold FC and Arnold Kingswell.

They spent their first four years in the Central Midlands League before moving up to the NCEL in 1993.

Of their previous 999 games, they have won 460, drawn 209 and lost 330, scoring 1806 goals and conceding 1367.

Eagles Game Moves To Radford

31st January, 2009

Arnold Town's midweek home KoolSport NCEL League Cup match will now be played at a different venue.

It comes after another postponement because of a waterlogged pitch at their new Eagle Valley Stadium.

The Eagles' Premier Division clash with Maltby Main today has become the latest match to be called off at the new facility.

Investigations into the problem will take place this week so Arnold's Second Round clash with Pickering Town on Tuesday night will be played at Radford FC's ground.

The club are hopeful that whatever is causing the postponements will be sorted ahead of their next home game, a Premier Division clash against Pickering on the 14th of February.

The game, on the 16th of December, that was originally to take place at Gedling Miners Welfare's ground will now be played at Carlton Town.

The club say that, if all goes according to schedule, they could be able to play their home match on Saturday the 20th of December at their newly-built Eagle Valley Stadium.

However, an alternative venue for the game against Long Eaton United has been set up at Gedling Miners Welfare in case it is not ready in time.

Arnold Town Plans Approved

27th September, 2008

Arnold Town has been given the green light to hold home games at its new ground, reports the Nottingham Evening Post.

The club can open up the three main pitches, car park, dressing rooms and club house at the ?1.4m site at Eagle Valley, Oxton Road, when building is finished.

Among proposals approved by Gedling Borough Council on Thursday night were changes to plans for the fence around the main pitch and the position of stands behind the clubhouse.

But, the committee did not approve the use of eight other pitches because it wants more details on a fence that would separate the pitches from the A614 Ollerton Road and B6386.

Eagle Valley Opener Delayed

17th September, 2008

Next Tuesday's KoolSport NCEL Premier Division match between Arnold Town and Mickleover Sports is set to be played at a neutral venue.

Negotiations are continuing between the club and the NCEL as to where the game will be played.

Eagles Double Signing Joy

16th July, 2008

Arnold Town have been boosted by the signings of two new strikers.

Deon Meikle has joined the Eagles after spending some five years with Eastwood Town.

The 23-year-old has been a long term target of Arnold manager Andy Muldoon.

Martin Carruthers has also joined the Eagle Valley bound club.

The striker has league experience with numerous clubs including Aston Villa, Stoke City and Hull City.

The Nottingham-born forward was taken from Aston Villa to Stoke some 15 years ago for a fee of ?300,000.

The pair will be in competition for a starting place for the first game of the season at Nostell Miners Welfare on August 9th with last season's top scorers Chris Freestone and Craig Mitchell.

The duo have re-signed for the club after netting 28 goals between them during the last campaign.

Arnold began their pre season campaign with a 3-1 defeat at Truro City ? with veteran Bryn Gunn forced to play in goal following an injury to Lee Broster.

The club will start the season without a home as the stands at Gedling Road have now been demolished.

Construction at Eagle Valley is on target for the ground to be ready by September 22nd.
