Swans to host anti-bullying charity game

21st May, 2018

Barton Town will host a match in July in support of the Ben Cohen Stand Up Foundation, an anti-bullying charity that pays particular attention to the LGBT community.

It is the world’s first foundation dedicated to raising awareness of the long-term, damaging effects of bullying and funding those doing real world work to stop it. Their aim is to stand up against bullying regardless of to whom it happens.

And, because lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people are often targeted by bullies, they give particular attention to this community whilst promoting tolerance and diversity in sports is also central to their mission.

The Swans they are backing the foundation to support diversity in football, a core value in their community club, and show that homophobia has no place in sport.

The premise of the match is based upon Fantasy Football gaming with an all-time Fantasy England team taking on an all-time Fantasy Rest of the World team.

Players in both teams will include some men and women from the LGBT community and see them wear shirts bearing the names of some of the greatest players in the history of Fantasy Football.

Some of these shirts will be raffled off after the game along with:
Ben Cohen T-shirts signed by the man himself (coming with Certificate of authenticity),
A family ticket to a Scunthorpe United game and
A PS4 games console and Fifa 18 football game.

The winning team captain will be presented with the Rainbow Cup after the match that will take place at the Easy Buy Stadium on Sunday 8th July, kick-off 4pm.

Admission to the match is £1 for adults whilst under 16s get in for free.
