Usher steps down as Pikes chairman

27th May, 2016

Pickering Town have announced that, after seven years in the role, Keith Usher has informed the club's commitee that he is stepping down as chairman.

He has told the Malton and Pickering Mercury that he is now to take a back seat as he wishes to spend more time with his family after a lifetime dedicated to football but he has stated he will be purchasing a season ticket so he can pop along to games next season.

A club statement said: "Keith has a fantastic knowledge of FA rules and guidelines, and this is not seen by the supporters on a Saturday.

"He has worked tirelessly for the Pikes, ensuring the budget is met each year and the club is within all FA guidelines.

"He has worked virtually 24 hours a day for the club, driving all over Yorkshire on occasions to support managers over the years in signing players, sometimes at the drop of a hat late at night to ensure the paperwork is done on time.

"Keith has attended all away games acting as the away match secretary ensuring the paperwork is correct being offered to referees.

"The present committee know how hard and how loyal Keith has been to the club, we wish him well and hope he enjoys a very deserved long and happy retirement."

Supporters are being urged to come and show their appreciation for his work at the club when the Pikes hold their AGM on Tuesday 12th July, 2016, at the Recreation Club which begins at 8pm.
