Joyce and Jacobs leave Worsbrough
14th March, 2016
Following Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Grimsby Borough, Worsbrough Bridge Athletic's first team manager Mark Joyce and coach Phil Jacobs have made the decision to leave the club with immediate effect.
A statement from the Toolstation NCEL Division One club, who are currently in the bottom two of the table, said: "With eleven games and 33 points still to play for and the imminent appointment of a new football club board, both Mark and Phil felt that the timing was right to give the club the best chance of escaping relegation from the Northern Counties East Football League."
Acting chairman Mark Booth added: "Mark and Phil have served the club loyally at U19s and first team level and their commitment during a difficult period should not be underestimated.
"Throughout this season, they have both acted with dignity whilst maintaining a determination and enthusiasm that many others would not have been able to maintain.
"I know that the decision was difficult for both of them but it shows the class that both have to leave at a time when there is still points to play for and with games in hand on the teams around us.
"Mark and Phil will always be welcome at Park Road and I know everyone at the club will wish them success in their next roles."
The club will be considering candidates for the first team manager position in the coming days.
