Borough unveil management team

16th June, 2015

Grimsby Borough have announced their new management team of Gary Precious and Andy Thornton with Pete Lynch as assistant coach.

A statement from the Wilderness Boys, who were last week reprieved from relegation from the Toolstation NCEL following the resignation of Louth Town, said: "The club have enjoyed working with these gentlemen over the last few weeks and the partnership between the three will be an excellent addition to the new Boro as they share the same ethos as of all at the club.

"We have discussed how we want not only the first team to play but how we want the structure in the whole club to develop the junior players and ensure we can one day have Boro players coming from the junior section.

"Andy and Gary are very committed to helping the club to develop at all sections and have offered their time around the first team where possible to help us develop the players."

Precious has been running a Sunday League team for the last six years and Pattesons came runners-up in the South Bank Alarms Sunday Football League Premier Division last season, losing out to eventual winners Empire.

Under the leadership of Precious and Thornton, Pattesons gained three back-to-back promotions and have played in the top league for the last two years with last year being the most successful.

Precious has played local level football for just under twenty years, playing in the top league for the majority of his time. He is now in the process of taking his UEFA B licence.

Thornton has recently been involved with assisting Precious at Pattesons and also managed the Grimsby Borough Ladies team for the last three seasons.

He has a wealth of coaching experience which is currently utilised within the ladies and junior section of Grimsby Borough, gaining his UEFA Football level two in 2003 and also his UEFA Football level three in 2006.

He has spent many summers coaching in America with university teams and has previously worked with both Lincoln City and Grimsby Town's School of Excellence sections.

And, Lynch was involved with Empire last year in which they won the league and cup double. He has played at the top end of Sunday League for the last ten years.
