Winterton Rangers have announced that Gerald Spencer, who was once secretary and director at the Toolstation NCEL Division One club, has died.

A statement on their website said: "It is with great sadness that the club has to announce the sudden death of Gerald Spencer, better known as Gerry.

"Former secretary and director of Winterton Rangers, Gerry will be sadly missed as he was a very popular well known and well liked gentleman in local non-league football and had been for many years.

"Gerry joined Winterton from Appleby Frodingham in 1986 along with Derek Waterfall as secretary and remained in the role until handing over the reins to the now secretary Mark Fowler.

"Sincere condolences go out to Gerry's family at this sad time.

"Funeral arrangements to be announced shortly."
