Simpson Gets Teversal Job Permanently

13th September, 2014

Teversal have announced that caretaker manager Scott Simpson has been appointed to the role on a permanent basis.

He had taken over temporarily from Lewis Saxby who was relieved of the duties before deciding to leave the club.

But, having been instrumental in turning the fortunes of the club round, with victories against AFC Mansfield and Penistone Church in the league as well as a close defeat in the FA Vase at AFC Mansfield, he is no longer the interim boss.

Simpson said: "I am truly elated to have been given this opportunity to manage at Teversal FC who are in my opinion one of the best run clubs in the area with fantastic ethics and connections to the local community.

"Firstly, I would like to thank the club and Pete Cockerill for this amazing opportunity.

"I'm still learning about this side of the game and I hope I can fulfil the clubs ambitions this season and for the future."

He continued: "Since my interim appointment two weeks ago, things have quickly transformed following the poor start to the season.

"The attitude of the players has been incredible and the results have matched, taking two victories in the league and a narrow defeat in the FA Vase by an own goal.

"I can't praise the lads enough for the effort and the response they have given me in this short time and now after being appointed first team manager I know we have laid some solid foundations to move on from.

"We hope to really kick on from the recent results and gain confidence and momentum to climb this tough league.

"It's early days yet so who knows what can happen, it's a long season and a great chance for me and the lads to really show what we're all capable of but the main goal for us is to progress on last season's finish and anything else is a bonus."

Chairman Pete Cockerill said "that the directors and all involved with the club are behind Scott and his management team and wish them all the very best in the future."
