Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #55
1st March, 2015
Both Toolstation NCEL sides left in the FA Vase are into Monday's draw for the Semi-Finals but they still have Sixth Round replays to get through in order to confirm their places in the last four.
Tadcaster Albion drew 1-1 at Hellenic Football League side Highworth Town, Callum Ward's 67th minute penalty cancelling out a spot-kick for the hosts on the hour to force a replay at the i2i Stadium next Saturday.
And, in a game moved to Handsworth Parramore's ground on Sunday, Shaw Lane Aquaforce went ahead twice through Lee Morris penalties but the North West Counties League visitors Glossop North End restored parity on both occasions to mean they also meet again next weekend.
In the Premier Division, those chasing Tadcaster at the top of the table could not take advantage of the leaders playing elsewhere as both Cleethorpes Town and Worksop Town dropped points at home.
Cleethorpes went behind to a 35th minute Will Waudby goal for Bridlington Town but Jack Richardson made sure it finished 1-1 with an equaliser before the interval.
And, Worksop were held 0-0 by Heanor Town so the Tigers stay second, four points behind Tadcaster and a point ahead of Cleethorpes.
Fifth-placed Staveley Miners Welfare were stunned by late goals from Neil Spruse and Brian Cusworth as Maltby Main came from a goal down to win 2-1 at Inkersall Road and move up one position to sixteenth.
Nostell Miners Welfare moved further away from the relegation zone as Tony Doran's 79th minute strike saw them beat visitors Liversedge by a single goal.
Scott Phillips' hat-trick ensured a 3-1 victory for Barton Town Old Boys at Athersley Recreation, a Ryan Cooper brace helped Pickering Town to a 4-2 win at home to Handsworth Parramore and first-half goals for Damian Hopkins and Doug Stevenson meant Thackley triumphed 2-0 at Garforth Town.
The race for the Division One title shows no sign of relenting with Pontefract Collieries keeping themselves top with a 2-0 home win over Yorkshire Amateur, a goal in each half for Aaron Moxam and George Conway.
They stay two points clear of AFC Emley who won 3-2 at Penistone Church despite an Alvin Riley double for the hosts.
AFC Mansfield are up into third, four points away from the summit, after a 5-0 home defeat of bottom side Grimsby Borough, Glyn Cotton with two of the Bulls' goals.
And two of their near-neighbours complete the top five after victories of their own, Daniel Wood netting as Clipstone won 1-0 at Knaresborough Town and Shirebrook Town beat visitors Selby Town, 3-1, with goals from Leigh Hutchinson and Jack Barnett added to with an injury-time penalty from Andre Johnson.
Dronfield Town climbed out of the bottom two as Herve Sezerano's stoppage-time equaliser snatched them a 1-1 draw at Rossington Main and they go above Lincoln Moorlands Railway and Winterton Rangers.
Craig Bridge scored four for Bottesford Town who won 6-2 at Moorlands and a couple of early goals saw Winterton ultimately go down 2-1 at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Eccleshill United came from two goals down to beat visitors Teversal, 4-3, whilst there were away wins for Hallam and Louth Town, 2-0 at Hall Road Rangers and 4-0 at Hemsworth Miners Welfare, respectively.
