Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #32

27th November, 2014

Worksop Town have moved up to third in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after a 3-1 home win over Thackley in midweek.

Jonathan Wafula's third minute strike set the Tigers on their way before Sam Liversedge and Conor Liversedge secured the points in the second half whilst Thomas Dugdale got an injury time consolation for the visitors.

Worksop are now ten points behind leaders Tadcaster Albion with a game in hand.

Two goals from Chris Adams helped Bridlington Town to a 3-0 home victory over Maltby Main whilst Garforth Town were 2-0 winners at Liversedge, Jack McCarthy and Luke Mangham finding the net in the last ten minutes.

Bridlington stay tenth whilst Garforth climb up into eleventh in the table.

Second placed Clipstone missed out on a chance to go level on points with Division One leaders AFC Emley as they went down 3-2 at Hallam.

Elliott Simpson and Simon Mirfin put the home side two goals ahead just before half hour but Jamie Smith pulled one back by the interval.

Jack Hargreaves claimed a third for Hallam on 89 minutes and there was an injury time second for Clipstone, courtesy of a Callum Westney own goal.

Hallam stay in the bottom two, however, as the side just above them, Dronfield Town, also picked up a vital victory, Nick Horsfield and Nicky Ellis with the goals that brought them from behind to triumph 2-1 at Eccleshill United.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare stay third despite a Nicholas Guest brace giving them a two goal lead at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic as Brad Kerr struck twice to share the spoils.

Liam Morris and Jamie York scored in Shirebrook Town's 2-1 home victory over Yorkshire Amateur and they are sixth in the table, ahead of Louth Town who won 3-1 at Pontefract Collieries and AFC Mansfield who won 4-1 at home to Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

Tadcaster Albion are through to the Semi-Finals of the West Riding County Cup after beating NCEL rivals Selby Town in a shoot-out at the i2i Stadium.

The match began at breakneck speed with Matty Start giving Selby a second minute lead which was quickly snuffed out by Patrick Miller before Daniel Gray restored their advantage and Josh Barrett struck twice to put Tadcaster 3-2 up by midway through the first half.

Then, Dan Bunch forced extra-time with an equaliser in second-half stoppage time and that is how it stayed until the Brewers progressed, 4-2 on penalties.

Pickering Town, however, bowed out of the North Riding Senior Cup in the First Round as they went out 5-3 on penalties at Scarborough Athletic after the match finished 1-1 in normal time.
