Toolstation NCEL match review 2014/15 #20
16th October, 2014
It was the perfect midweek for Toolstation NCEL Premier Division leaders Tadcaster Albion as they were the only side in the top five to win.
They beat third-placed hosts Heanor Town, 2-1, to go three points clear at the top of the table, Callum Ward and Carl Stewart netting for the Brewers after Kieran Debrouwer gave the hosts a 27th minute lead.
Honours were even in the match which pitted second with fifth as Shaw Lane Aquaforce led twice against visitors Handsworth Parramore but were pegged back on both occasions to draw 2-2.
James Eyles had them ahead by the interval but Gareth Griffiths levelled early in the second period before Lee Morris quickly restored the home side's lead and Sam Smith completed the scoring with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
Worksop Town stay fourth after their 1-1 home draw with Athersley Recreation, Andre Johnson claiming them a point on 72 minutes after Kieron Scargill put the visitors ahead just after the half-hour mark.
Glasshoughton Welfare moved out of the bottom three with a 1-1 draw at home to Thackley, Matthew Haigh's first-half strike cancelled out in the second period by Thomas Dugdale for the away side.
Retford United, Armthorpe Welfare and Nostell Miners Welfare prop up the rest of the table after heavy defeats.
Retford were beaten 4-0 at home by Staveley Miners Welfare, Ryan Damms getting a couple of the goals, Nathan Smith also struck twice for Barton Town Old Boys in their 4-1 victory at basement side Nostell and Armthorpe Welfare went down 7-1 at Albion Sports.
AFC Emley remain top of Division One despite their 3-2 defeat at Yorkshire Amateur, Joel Hughes scoring two either side of Mark Hill's 73rd minute strike for the hosts.
Clipstone who are second were 3-0 down at bottom side Hallam, who were chasing their first points of the season, when the match was abandoned on 69 minutes due to fog.
Pontefract Collieries move up into third ahead of Eccleshill United who they beat 3-2 at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, thanks to two second-half penalties from Liam Radford.
Daniel Gray struck a hat-trick for Selby Town in their 4-2 home victory over Knaresborough Town and there were doubles for Andrew Ring and Alvin Riley in Penistone Church's 5-3 win at Hall Road Rangers, a match in which the visitors were 4-0 up after just sixteen minutes.
Danny Boulton's 55th minute goal saw Bottesford Town through to the Second Round of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy at the expense of fellow NCEL visitors Winterton Rangers whilst Cleethorpes Town progressed without kicking a ball as opponents Lincoln Moorlands Railway withdrew from the competition earlier in the week.
And, in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup, goals from Ben Thornton and Liam Royles saw Malty Main through, 2-0 at home to Parkgate in their Second Round tie.
