Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #16
2nd October, 2014
Tadcaster Albion remain the top side in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after all four of the leading sides won in midweek.
The Brewers were 4-1 winners at Parkgate with Patrick Miller and Nick Thompson putting them two up before a Ross Shelton penalty on 25 minutes brought the home side back into the game.
Callum Ward, though, struck a spot-kick to restore the two goal advantage before the break and Thompson got his second and Tadcaster's fourth towards the end of the second period.
Shaw Lane Aquaforce stay a point behind them in second spot after they thrashed visitors Thackley, 9-0, James Eyles getting four of their goals to take his season's tally to ten.
Mitch Husbands and Chris Whincop netted for Worksop Town as the third-placed side won 2-1 at home to Staveley Miners Welfare and Heanor Town complete the top four by winning 2-1 at home to the team just below them, Handsworth Parramore.
The Lions struck twice in first-half stoppage time through Ross Henshaw and a Sam Jones penalty to open up a five point gap between the two sides.
Pickering Town won 4-2 at Cleethorpes Town, Ryan Cooper with a brace for the visitors, to move them up to ninth, a place behind Bridlington Town who drew 1-1 at home to Barton Town Old Boys.
AFC Emley are now three points clear at the summit of Division One following their 5-2 win at Teversal as they came from 1-0 down at the interval to take the victory with Ashley Flynn and Paul Sykes making sure of the result late on.
Eccleshill United have climbed into third after they defeated AFC Mansfield, 2-1, at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, a Daniel McLane own goal added to by a Charlie Flaherty strike giving them a grip on the game in the first period before Danny Naylor pulled one back for the Bulls at the start of the second half.
Bottesford Town are up into the top four as Mark Anderson's first half stoppage time strike was the only goal of the game as they won at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Two goals from Nash Connolly helped Hemsworth Miners Welfare to a 4-1 win at Shirebrook Town whilst Hall Road Rangers were 3-2 victors over visitors Lincoln Moorlands Railway and Penistone Church were beaten 3-1 at Rossington Main.
Garforth Town and Albion Sports progressed to the second round of the West Riding County Cup with victories at fellow NCEL sides.
A Sam Akeroyd spot kick and a goal from Jason Davis saw Garforth come from behind to win 2-1 at Knaresborough Town whilst Sports beat hosts Yorkshire Amateur, 5-1, with Daniel Facey getting two of their goals.
Selby Town sprung a surprise as Dan Bunch netted midway through the second half to beat Ossett Albion, 1-0, at the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium.
But, Glasshoughton Welfare went down 7-0 at home to Farsley AFC and Liversedge's match was abandoned on 78 minutes due to floodlight failure as they were beating visitors Ossett Town, 4-1.
And, in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy, a second minute strike from Jamie Coulson was enough for Louth Town as they won 1-0 at Grimsby Borough.
