Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #14
25th September, 2014
Just one point separates the top five in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division as the title race, even at this early stage, is promising to be one of the tightest in recent years after this midweek's matches.
Worksop Town are the new leaders after coming from behind to win 3-1 at home to Cleethorpes Town, Jack Barlow scoring the opener for the visitors before Luke Shiels levelled in first half stoppage time and Andre Johnson's double after the interval secured the points for the Tigers.
They are ahead of Tadcaster Albion and Heanor Town, who also both won, on goal difference whilst Shaw Lane Aquaforce's draw sees them fall to fourth and Handsworth Parramore, who did not have a game, are now fifth.
Josh Greening's superb scoring form continued as he netted his fifteenth goal of the season in Tadcaster's 3-2 win at Thackley whilst Heanor were 3-0 victors at Armthorpe Welfare, Nathan Benger's 78th minute strike adding to early goals from Kieran Wells and Nick Hall.
Aquaforce drew 1-1 with visitors Athersley Recreation, needing an 85th minute equaliser from Joe Thornton to rescue a point after Kieron Scargill had given their local rivals the lead late in the first period in a match played in front of a new record high crowd for the season of 904.
Staveley Miners Welfare are up into eighth after a 3-0 home win over Glasshoughton Welfare, Barton Town Old Boys won 2-1 against visitors Maltby Main and there were 2-2 draws for Liversedge at Retford United and for Bridlington Town at home to Albion Sports.
Reuben Jerome's 33rd minute goal and a penalty just before half time from Paul Sykes saw AFC Emley return to the summit in Division One with a 2-0 win at Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
They are ahead of second-placed Clipstone on goal difference after the Cobras made it seven wins out of seven in the league so far this season with a 6-1 victory over hosts Grimsby Borough, Jamie Smith with a hat-trick for Chris Millington's side.
Winterton Rangers continued to move away from the bottom of the table with a 3-0 home victory over Hall Road Rangers and Knaresborough Town defeated home side Yorkshire Amateur by a single goal to climb out of the bottom five.
