Moyses and Barker Leave Moorlands

19th May, 2011

Lincoln Moorlands Railway have announced that they have parted company with their manager Chris Moyses and assistant manager Baz Barker.

Moyses informed the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division side last Saturday that he had accepted a coaching position with the Lincoln City Academy and, although extremely sad to leave, it was an offer he could not refuse.

Barker, who always stated he would only work with Moyses, then also tendered his resignation.

A statement from the club said: "The committee are extremely sad to see Chris and Baz leave, especially given the successful season just past and the plans they had for next year.

"Chris and Baz were appointed in Feb 2010 and took over when the side were next to bottom of the division and five points behind the team above them.

"They quickly steadied the ship and relegation was comfortably avoided.

"This season will be remembered for an excellent FA Cup run to the 3rd Qualifying Round and a late season surge up the table to eventually finish in a creditable sixth position, the club's highest ever league placing.

"The committee would like to thank Chris and Baz for their hard work, immense dedication, and commitment over the last 15 months.

"In this time, they established Lincoln MR as a credible Premier Division team and at times produced some fantastic football.

"We wish Chris every success in his new role and there will always be a warm welcome for both Chris and Baz at the Moorlands in the future."

The club has acted quickly and filled the void by appointing coach Danny George as manager.

The committee say they were impressed with his enthusiasm and plans for next season and his first act will be to try to retain as many of the squad as possible.
