Johnston Named as New Welfare Boss
25th May, 2013
Following over twenty applications for their vacant manager's post and having to reject some very good candidates, Armthorpe Welfare have announced that Brian Johnston has taken over the role.
Four applicants were short-listed and their performances in their interviews were very strong with each of them having much to offer and the club says any of the four would no doubt have done a good job.
A statement from the Baris NCEL Premier Division outfit said: "After much deliberation amongst the committee, Brian was selected as we felt he was the best match for the club in its current situation.
"After a disappointing season last time around with a complete lack of consistency, Welfare are looking to stabilise and strengthen over the summer and hope to come back stronger in the 2013/14 season.
"Brian has said he would like to publicly thank the Armthorpe Welfare committee for their support and for selecting him as the new manager and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
"Armthorpe Welfare would like to thank everybody who applied for the job, but extend a special thank you to the three unsuccessful candidates who were interviewed for giving up their time to attend the interview. Each of them would be a great asset as a club manager and wish them every success for the future."

Leo Fortune-West has resigned from his position as manager of Armthorpe Welfare.
Assistant manager Brian Johnston will assume the position of boss for the rest of the season.
The club say they will not be accepting any CV's/applications or responding to any enquiries with regards to the manager's position at this time as they would like to focus all their attention on trying to maintain their Baris NCEL Premier Division status and they fully back Brian and the team to do that.
They have also thanked Leo for all his hard work and effort throughout a challenging season and have wished him all the best for the future.
