Pikes captain in charity run before friendly

10th July, 2026

Pickering Town skipper Connor Avison will be running the eighteen miles between Scarborough and Pickering, raising funds for both clubs ahead of their friendly on Friday evening.

He will then, he says hopefully, be able to play the first 35 minutes of the game at Mill Lane as part of the event under the banner "18 Miles. One Community. One Cause."

On his gofundme fundraising page, Connor explains why he is raising money for both clubs, writing: "Scarborough have had to play away from home in Bridlington, which has brought extra costs and challenges for the club, while at Pickering every penny makes a difference as the club relies heavily on gate receipts and receives very little additional revenue from matchdays.

"I wanted to do something that would support both clubs and give something back to two teams that mean a lot to their communities.

"Any donation, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated and will go directly toward helping both clubs."

Whether you support the Pikes, the Seadogs, or simply appreciate an incredible effort, please consider donating.

No amount is too small. Every pound helps keep grassroots and non-league football thriving.

Let us show Connor that the football family is behind him every step of the way.

Please donate, share, and cheer him on. Together we can make every mile count.
