Barton Town were unable to become the first Macron NCEL to reach Fourth Round Qualifying in the Emirates FA Cup in over 20 years as their adventure came to an end on Saturday.The Swans hosted Enterprise National League North side Chorley hoping to cause a major upset over a team three steps higher than them in the FA’s National League System.
Victory would see them reach the stage that was last achieved by one of our clubs in 2004 by Liversedge.
But, three goals in a five-minute period towards the end of the opening half ended Barton’s chances before a fourth was added by the visitors around the hour mark.
Lewis Stephens netted in stoppage time for a late consolation for the hosts in the 4-1 defeat in front of a crowd of just over a thousand.
In the Premier Division, leaders
Dearne & District suffered their biggest defeat of the season as they went down 4-0 at
Rossington Main.
Oliver Nowak and Robert Guilfoyle gave the home side the perfect start with goals in the opening twenty minutes before Nowak’s second before half-time and a late strike from Myron Gibbons completed the victory.
Second placed
Bottesford Town, however, could not take full advantage of Dearne’s slip as they were held to a 2-2 draw by visitors
Frickley Athletic.
Jack McMenemy twice gave the Poachers the lead, but the away side fought back on both occasions with goals from Keelan Grist and Jack Humphreys.
Despite picking up a point, Frickley drop into the bottom two as
Tadcaster Albion’s 2-0 home win over
Albion Sports moved the Brewers out of the relegation zone.
Elliott Andrew broke the deadlock in the sixth minute and Curtis Senior’s free-kick rubber-stamped the victory in injury time.
Knaresborough Town began the day in third spot but a 3-2 home loss to
Retford FC saw them fall to sixth with their opponents one of the sides overtaking them.
Bernard Nsiah Yaa struck twice and Alex Wonham also got on the scoresheet for the Choughs whilst Nathan Cartman and Jack Dyche found the net for Knaresborough.

Retford United who cantered to a 5-0 home win over
Thackley.
Alans Voskresenski’s opener was added to by a brace from Lewis Chambers and one each for Ben Ashall and Oliver Wilson.
And,
Horbury Town now complete the top five after Carlos De Sousa Rodrigues scored the only goal in their victory over visitors
Penistone Church.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic got back to winning ways after three successive defeats to keep themselves in eighth spot.
Samuel Awty struck twice whilst Lewis O’Connor and Juninho Blake also added to their tally as they won 4-0 at home to
Parkgate.
Sonny Whittingham got two of
Campion’s goals as they prevailed 3-2 at
Golcar United to stay in ninth place.
And,
Pickering Town are up into the top half of the table as Souleymane Coulibaly and Joseph Bhaskaran scored in their 2-1 home win over
Handsworth.
Division One leaders
Brigg Town comfortably defeated visitors
Ilkley Town to extend their advantage at the summit to four points.
There were two goals each for Joshua Batty and Reece York with Dayle Southwell also netting on an impressive afternoon for the Zebras who are now undefeated in twelve games.
Their nearest rivals faltered as
Field Olympic were beaten 2-1 at
Harrogate Railway Athletic despite taking a 33rd-minute lead through Danny Edwards.
Alex Burton levelled matters towards the start of the second period with Stephen Smith grabbing the Rail’s winner with five minutes remaining.
Third-placed
Wombwell Town kept themselves five points away from the top of the table as Nash Connolly and Josh Brown scored in a 2-1 home win over
Club Thorne Colliery.
But,
Goole AFC have lost some ground in fourth as they were beaten 3-2 at
Kinsley Boys, Lucas Stubbs with a couple of goals for the triumphant hosts.
Route One Rovers climb into the top five as Umar Ali Zahoor, David Bayoh and Bubacary Conteh Samateh were the scorers in their 3-0 home win against
Leeds UFCA.
There was no respite for the bottom three as
South Leeds,
Immingham Town and
Hemsworth Miners Welfare all tasted narrow defeats.
South Leeds stay five points adrift in the basement after an injury-time winner from Bradley Grayson saw hosts
Crowle Colts take a single-goal victory.
Immingham also suffered late on to stay next-to-bottom, Samuel Drake with an 89th minute decider for visitors
Wakefield AFC in a 2-1 victory for Adam Lockwood’s side.
And, Hemsworth remain just outside the drop zone as they were beaten 3-2 at
Armthorpe Welfare, Joel Learmouth with what proved to be the vital third for hosts.
James Chester and Joshua Fraiwald were the scorers as
Appleby Frodingham won 2-0 at home to
LIV to move six points clear of the bottom two.
Meanwhile,
Winterton Rangers are up to ninth as first half goals from Ben Vazquez and Lewis Walker secured a 2-1 win at
Selby Town who drop to sixth.
