Parkgate became the first Macron NCEL side to win in this season’s Emirates FA Cup as they beat hosts Sheffield 2-0 in the Extra Preliminary Round on Friday night.

In what will a huge boost to the Steelmen who are yet to get off the mark in the Premier Division, they came back from their former NCEL rivals with a victory courtesy of goals from Alex Bonnington and Bradley Gregory.

They took the lead midway through the first half before sealing the deal with their second with twenty minutes remaining.

Parkgate were joined on Saturday by five other of our sides booking their places in the Preliminary Round in a fortnight’s time.

There were two goals each for Owen Vincent, Jack McMenemy and Jaime Ture as Bottesford Town defeated United Counties League visitors Aylestone Park, 6-3.

Barton Town were involved in an even-higher scoring encounter with Albie Collier netting four times with one each for Thomas Waudby, Craig King and Ali Aydemir as they won 7-3 at Deeping Rangers, also of the United Counties League.

William Lenehan and Jonathan White grabbed the goals for Knaresborough Town in a 2-1 home win over Whickham whilst an own goal and a Bernard Nsiah Yaa injury-time strike saw Retford FC through 2-0 at former NCEL side Skegness Town.

And, in an all-NCEL tie, Thackley won 2-1 at home to Albion Sports after Talent Ndlovu’s spot-kick had broken the deadlock for the visiting Lions in the 83rd minute.

Two quickfire goals as the game entered stoppage time, a Reuben Bartkiw strike added to by a Lewis Sugden spot kick, saw the Dennyboys through.

The other ties that paired up NCEL rivals both ended in draws and will be replayed in midweek.

Liam Flanagan gave Frickley Athletic the lead in the 32nd minute at home to Campion but Ben Grech-Brooksbank levelled with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining to secure a 1-1 draw.

And, it was the same scoreline between Horbury Town and their visitors Golcar United - George Doyle’s first-half penalty for the away side cancelled out by Keenan Davies-Mosley early in the second period.

Dearne & District and Tadcaster Albion also have another chance to progress in midweek after their ties ended in a draw.

Jamie Austin’s spot-kick had seemingly put Dearne through in the 89th minute but hosts Runcorn Town grabbed an equaliser in stoppage time for a 2-2 scoreline.

And, an own goal had given Tadcaster the lead at home to Glossop North End but the away side restored parity in the 77th minute, leaving the Brewers with a midweek trip to Derbyshire following their 1-1 draw.

Rossington Main, Retford United, Pickering Town, Handsworth and Keighley Town all drew blanks to bow out of the competition at the opening stage.

Respectively, they were beaten 3-0 at 1874 Northwich, 1-0 at AFC Mansfield, 4-0 at Crook Town, 2-0 at home to Prestwich Heys, and 1-0 at home to Longridge Town.

And, Lennon O’Grady netted for Penistone Church but they were beaten 4-1 away at last year’s Premier Division champions Liversedge.

The weekend’s FA Cup action ended on Sunday with a home game for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic but it sadly ended in a 2-0 defeat to visitors Trafford.

Elsewhere, it was full programme of matches in Division One with Brigg Town kicking things off with a 1-0 win at Wakefield AFC on Friday night.

Dayle Hutson struck in the 58th minute to secure the victory that means the Zebras are one of six teams at the top of the table with nine points as the standings start to take shape.

A double from Omar Sanyang and one each from Fraser Day and Kalaab Daniel secured Leeds UFCA a 4-1 home win over Club Thorne Colliery that leaves them top of the table on goal difference.

Armthorpe Welfare are the only side with a perfect record as they made it three wins out of three as they cantered to a 6-1 victory at South Leeds.

There was a goal apiece for Mitch Pattinson, Alfie Charlotte, William Mendonca, Thomas Joynt, Bayley Lowe and Finley Harding.

Field Olympic, Goole AFC and Selby Town complete the leading sextet with Olympic 5-2 home victors over Kinsley Boys.

Junayd Cassius-Gill, Danny Edwards, Kieran Suddards, Kieron Batey and Omar Habeeb got their goals whilst a Ross Duggan double helped Goole to a 3-0 victory at Immingham Town.

Selby, however, dropped their first points of the campaign as they went down 1-0 at Wombwell Town, Josh Brown with the late winner for the hosts who are now a point behind the Robins.

Zak Khan has continued his scoring prowess from last season as he scored five in Route One Rovers’ 9-0 home victory over Appleby Frodingham.

Muhammed Kanyi, Umar Ali Zahoor, Ishaq Ibrar and Subhan Mir also found the net to pile the misery onto the visitors.

Charlie Bibby struck in stoppage time to snatch Winterton Rangers a dramatic 4-3 win at Harrogate Railway Athletic whilst Andrew Horbury also scored late to secure Hemsworth Miners Welfare a 3-1 home victory against Ilkley Town.

There was injury-time drama too at the Marra Falcons Stadium as Daniel Nichols’ second of the afternoon grabbed LIV a point in a 3-3 draw at Doncaster City.

And, on an afternoon packed with goals, there was one exception as Athersley Recreation played out a 0-0 draw with visitors Crowle Colts.
