Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #63

15th March, 2026

Congratulations to Liversedge who were crowned Macron NCEL Premier Division champions following their 3-0 win at Parkgate on Saturday.

Needing two points to secure the title, Alfie Dean set them on their way in the 33rd minute before a quickfire double around the hour mark from Kelan Swales and George Green made sure they cannot be caught at the summit.

It means an immediate return to the Pitching In Northern Premier League for Sedge after their relegation from Step 4 last season and it is the first time they have lifted the trophy.

The race to join them in promotion, meanwhile, continues to hot up with seven sides all still realistically in with a chance of finishing in the play-off places.

Beverley Town's 3-1 home victory over Knaresborough Town keeps them in the strongest position in second, Cameron Connelly, Luka Suluburic and Conner Harman with their goals whilst Sam Barker netted for the visitors.

Barton Town have tightened their grip on third spot as a Thomas Waudby double ensured a 2-0 win for the Swans at Handsworth.

Only goal difference now separates the sides from fourth to sixth with Sheffield topping the trio as Luke Mangham's injury-time time winner saw them beat visitors Thackley 2-1.

Cameron Bedford had given them the lead midway through the first period before the Dennyboys levelled matters through Hass Gorji on 55 minutes.

The other two sides in the top six met in Friday night's game with Tadcaster Albion winning 3-1 to draw level on points with their hosts Campion.

Ewan Gregson had broken the deadlock for the home side but parity was quickly restored through Charlie Owen and then an Oliver Norman penalty was added to by Oliver Green towards the end of the first half.

Handsworth's defeat means they have lost a little ground in seventh, four points away from the top five, whilst Pickering Town keep their hopes alive with a 3-0 home win over Bottesford Town.

Souleymane Coulibaly, Joe Wood and George Brown were the scorers as the Pikes remain nine points off the play-off zone but they do have two games in hand on the sides immediately above them.

At the other end of the table, Wombwell Town's relegation zone finish is almost confirmed after their 2-2 draw at home to Horbury Town.

Jack Wilson and Charlie Rogerson had given them the perfect start before Samuel Kyeremeh and Joe Jagger struck to share the spoils for the visitors.

The side just outside the bottom two Albion Sports won 1-0 at the other team also in the drop zone, Rossington Main, to pick up a vital victory, courtesy of a 27th minute decider from Nash Connolly.

That means Wombwell are eighteen points from safety so have to win all six of their final games to have any chance of finishing outside of the bottom two.

And, Rossington are now four points adrift with Sports and Horbury the sides looking most nervously over their shoulder.

Eccleshill United and Golcar United picked up home wins to ease their relegation fears, Stevie Ellix with a late penalty as the Eagles beat Frickley Athletic 1-0 whilst Ashley Flynn and George Doyle netted for Golcar as they defeated Penistone Church 2-0.

In Division One, Dearne & District took a major step towards lifting the trophy as Cian Guest's first half strike secured them a 1-0 win over fifth-placed Brigg Town, their twelfth straight victory.

That, coupled with second-placed Wakefield AFC's first defeat since October, means they are now fourteen points clear with five games left to play.

Leeds UFCA were the ones to end Wakefield's long unbeaten run, Harry Brown's goal early in the second period securing a 1-0 win that boosts his side's own play-off ambitions in seventh.

Alex Ingham netted early for Harrogate Railway Athletic in their single goal victory over visitors Club Thorne Colliery that moves the Rail up into third.

They go above Worsbrough Bridge Athletic whose game at Appleby Frodingham was abandoned following a serious injury to the home side's Alex Hazell and all at the NCEL wish him a speedy recovery.

Zak Khan struck twice whilst Reece Thompson and David Bayoh found the net for Route One Rovers who won 4-1 at home to Goole AFC whose injury-time consolation came from Nathan Perks.

Rovers stay sixth and close the gap to Brigg in the play-off places to seven points, remaining ahead of UFCA on goal difference.

Winterton Rangers have boosted their hopes for survival as Jason Chanayire and Ben Silburn struck early to win 2-0 at basement side Glasshoughton Welfare.

The win over their hosts, who are already confirmed a relegation zone finish, moves them to three points from safety, getting closer to Athersley Recreation who lost 2-1 at South Leeds.

James Woodhouse had put the Rec in front but William Law's leveller and then a winner from Reece Evans ensured it was the hosts who took the victory.

Next-to-bottom Nostell Miners Welfare are in an increasingly precarious position as they went down 2-1 at Doncaster City, staying nine points below the trapdoor but beginning to run out of games.

Joseph Taylor found the net for them in stoppage time but the damage had already been done with Samuel Giles and Joshua Meade scoring for the hosts who climb to fifteenth.

Meanwhile, there were 3-1 away wins for Armthorpe Welfare and Selby Town with Joel Learmouth, Alfie Charlotte and Kyle Fish getting the goals for Welfare at Louth Town.

Archie Micklewaite, Lleyton Brown and Maximillian Bauer were the scorers for the Robins in their victory at Maltby Main.

And, Edson Prata secured a 1-0 win for Ilkley Town at Crowle Colts and his side moves to nine points clear of danger in sixteenth.
