Two of the bottom three sides met in the Macron NCEL Premier Division in midweek and produced a ten-goal thriller as both of them claimed a point in the battle to avoid relegation.Myron Gibbons put
Rossington Main ahead in the fourteenth minute at
Albion Sports but their hosts quickly levelled through Fernando Moke Tumba.
And, then, in a dramatic end of the first half, Ellis Wade struck for the Lions whilst Dylan Mantle found the net twice for Main to give the visitors a 3-2 lead at the break.
Aran Basi restored parity once more for Sports in the opening minute of the second period and a quickfire double from Nathan Cartman and Felipe Castelo had seemingly given them the points as they led 5-3 going into the final moments of the encounter.
But, Gibbons pounced twice in rapid succession to make it 5-5 as the game veered towards injury time and that is how it stayed with Rossington remaining in the danger zone, a point behind their hosts who still stand nervously on the trapdoor.
Golcar United and
Thackley picked up wins to ease their fears of getting dragged into a relegation fight.
Jerome Bedeau broke the deadlock from the penalty spot before Ashley Flynn, Oliver Russon and George Doyle earned Golcar a 4-1 home victory over
Bottesford Town, Okera Simmonds with a late spot kick for the Poachers who drop to fifteenth and five points above danger.
Golcar replace them in fourteenth whilst Thackley, courtesy of Hass Gorji's injury-time winner at
Wombwell Town, move up to twelfth with their 2-1 victory.
Edward Agnew opened the scoring for the home side before Toby Marriott equalised towards the start of the second half and the defeat leaves Wombwell thirteen points away from safety and in the basement.
Campion consolidated third spot as they won 2-1 at the side just below them
Barton Town, Sonny Whittingham and Ewan Gregson with their goals before Lewis Stephens halved the deficit for the Swans.
Harry Day and Harley Moore pounced in the final twenty minutes to secure
Parkgate a 2-0 win at
Frickley Athletic that sees the Steelmen move up into ninth.
And,
Penistone Church thought they had snatched a victory when Robert Ludlam made it 3-2 in their favour in the 89th minute but their visitors made sure it was a point apiece as Slater Barkham-Barnes found the net for
Knaresborough Town in stoppage time for a 3-3 draw.
In Division One,
Wakefield AFC have closed the gap on leaders Dearne & District to just three points after their 4-0 win at
Club Thorne Colliery.
Thomas Hinton's double was added to by Akeel Francis and Eliel Anku to spark further life into a title race that had seemingly been going completely Dearne's way just a few weeks ago.

The Rec have leapfrogged
