Campion's 5-0 home win over basement side Wombwell Town has seen them leap up into the Macron NCEL Premier Division play-off zone whilst Tadcaster Albion also boosted their chances with a midweek victory.Jack Normanton struck twice whilst there was one each from Patrick Sykes, Sonny Whittingham and Ewan Gregson as Campion claimed a comfortable three points over their visitors who were reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Edward Agnew.
Campion are now fourth in the table whilst Tadcaster stay seventh but are now within touching distance of the top five after their 2-0 victory over
Rossington Main at the Young Guns Arena.
Jayden Thompson opened the scoring after a quarter-of-an-hour and Noah Kiwomya sealed the victory with the same amount of time remaining in the second half.
The race for play-off positions is hotting up with only three points now separating
Handsworth who are third and Tadcaster.
Wombwell, meanwhile, remain twelve points away from safety whilst next-to-bottom Rossington are still four points from
Albion Sports, the side just above the trapdoor.
And, the game between
Knaresborough Town and
Pickering Town was abandoned in the 85th minute due to floodlight failure with the home side leading 2-1.
In Division One,
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic have tightened their grip on third spot as a Benjamin Pike hat-trick secured them a 3-1 win at
Crowle Colts, Joe Simpson with the hosts' only goal and they stay in tenth position.
It was honours even as the bottom two teams met at the Welfare Stadium with
Nostell Miners Welfare sharing six goals with their visitors
Glasshoughton Welfare.
The hosts raced into a two-goal lead with Thomas Booth and Cooper Hall netting in the opening eighteen minutes but Liam Flanagan and Jack Stokell restored parity by half-time.
Ashton Peltier put Welfare in front with eighteen minutes remaining and they almost held on for their third win of the season but Hall's second came in injury time to ensure the spoils were shared.
Glasshoughton are now seventeen points away from escaping the drop zone whilst Nostell are three points below the dotted line.
Leeds UFCA kept up their hopes of a play-off push as they won 5-2 at
South Leeds despite conceding early on through a Kieran Haigh strike.
Junayd Cassius-Gill levelled matters at the start of the second half but Akram Lasalire quickly restored the home side's advantage before UFCA took control of the game.
Omar Sanyang and Kevin Gonzalez put them in front by the hour mark before Cassius-Gill's second and an injury time Harrison Rowley goal gave the visitors the win that closes the gap to the top five to nine points with four games in hand.
Meanwhile,
Louth Town are through to the Final of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy after a 2-0 win at Harrowby United.
Harvey Lidgard broke the deadlock just before the hour mark and Will Pennell made sure of the victory on 75 minutes that sets up a clash with Grantham Town for the silverware.
