Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #12

4th September, 2025

The early leaders in the Macron NCEL Premier Division met on Tuesday night and the game was as tight as expected with a goalless draw between Barton Town and their visitors Tadcaster Albion.

That result leaves Albion four points clear at the summit with the Swans keeping hold of second place after a full programme of top flight fixtures in midweek.

It was one of three 0-0 matches as Liversedge came away with a point from Frickley Athletic to move themselves up into third and it was also stalemate between Horbury Town and Parkgate who drop to eighteenth and seventh in the table, respectively.

Penistone Church were leapfrogged by Sedge after they went down 4-2 at Knaresborough Town, Aaron White's double added to by Ben Gelder and Jack Lazenby to secure the hosts a victory that sees them up into fifth spot, three points behind Church whose goals came from Bradley Kemp and Leon Hurles-Brook.

Dominic Weston struck in stoppage time to grab Pickering Town a 3-2 win at Eccleshill United to climb the Pikes up into sixth after goals from Zackary Sangster and Hamza Diallo for the Eagles and from Souleymane Coulibaly and Nathan Dyer for the visitors had seemingly secured a point for both sides.

Handsworth were the biggest scorers as they put five past hosts Albion Sports in a game that saw the home side go 2-0 up by the interval through Niall Heaton and Talent Ndlovu.

The Ambers, however, fought back with an Ellis Wade own goal setting them on their way before Mitchell Dunne's equaliser, two goals from Jordan Hines and a Jonathan Williams strike ensured a 5-2 victory.

Jack McMenemy netted twice to claim a 4-2 win for Bottesford Town at Thackley whilst a Jordan Kershaw penalty and an Oliver Fearon goal led to a 2-1 home victory for Wombwell Town at home to Campion who grabbed a late consolation through Jamie Allsop.

Archie Micklethwaite's last gasp equaliser snatched a point for Rossington Main in a 1-1 home draw with Golcar United.

And, Kai Larkin did the same as Beverley Town came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with visitors Sheffield, Alfie Dodsworth and Alexander Hardwick scoring for the away side before James Piercy gave the hosts hope.

Dearne & District top Division One following their 2-0 home win over Doncaster City, Atley Jackson and Luke Skelton finding the net either side of half time to give them a one point cushion at the summit over former leaders Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Bolton Makwedza was the only scorer as Wakefield AFC defeated hosts Winterton Rangers to move up into third spot whilst Rangers drop to the bottom, replacing Nostell Miners Welfare who picked up their first victory of the season, Joseph Taylor with the winner as they prevailed 1-0 at Appleby Frodingham.

And, a pair of penalties from James Woodhouse, added to by Kane Reece's strike, resulted in a 3-1 home win for Ilkley Town whose goal came from Matthew Swift.
