Premier Division News for

Beavers back White Ribbon campaign

27th November, 2024

NCEL Premier Division side Beverley Town are supporting the White Ribbon campaign to end violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Research by APPG for UN Women in 2021 found that around 70% of women in the UK say they have experienced sexual harassment in public.

White Ribbon Day took place on Monday (25th) and its theme was "It Starts With Me(n)", aimed at men to play an active role in stopping violence before it starts.

Men can help by acting early, and by recognising and calling out attitudes, language, and behaviours that are harmful in everyday life.

There are many ways to become an ally to the campaign and help tackle VAWG, including:

* Educate yourself and others about VAWG;

* Speak up if you witness violence or disrespectful behaviour towards females;

* Be an ally and offer help when needed;

* Lead by example and model a culture of respect and equality.

Other ways include making the White Ribbon Promise to never use, excuse, or stay silent about male violence against women, or furthering your commitment by becoming a White Ribbon ambassador or champion.

Beverley Town is looking to join East Riding of Yorkshire Council in becoming officially affiliated with the campaign, is keen to promote its work and encourage all clubs and organisations to align themselves with such an important cause.
