Volunteers needed at Retford

Retford United are looking for volunteers to help fill a number of roles within the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division Club.

They require the following:


Club Secretary

The club secretary is a pivotal role within the club and will provide a range of administrative services:

The football administration and compliance with all NCEL League, FA rules and regulations;

Management and coordination of player registration and transfer activity for all Retford United teams, in line with League and FA guidelines;

The arrangements relating to matchday requirements, such as programmes, officials confirmation, programme notes etc.;

Any other activity that may be under the remit of the club secretary.

The person maybe an existing club secretary at NCEL level or above or an assistant, and will be reporting to the club directors, the club committee, the team manager and other staff members.

The candidate should have excellent communication and administration skills, experience of modern software such as Microsoft Office programs, have an ability to work under pressure at times and good organisational skills, coupled with a pro active work ethic.

Retford United has a matchday secretary who will carry out all the relevant matchday duties.


Treasurer

Retford United Football Club requires the services of a club treasurer.

If you have a book keeping or accountancy background or even good numeracy skills, and would like to get involved at community level with a young and exciting Northern Counties Football League premier club, they would be very interested in speaking with you.

From an administrative point of view, they are a very organised and well-run club utilising various internal administrative procedures.

The treasurer's role includes the basics such as invoicing, suppliers' payments, banking and an end of season profit and loss, etc.

This role is ideally suited to someone who would like to get involved with a friendly community based family club, has a few hours a week to spare and would like to put something back into the community.

If you have some time to spare or are a semi-retired or retired book keeper / accountant that would like an interest outside of the quiet life, they encourage you to contact them.


Groundsman

To manage and maintain Jones & Co Stadium pitch on a weekly basis, the groundsman is responsible for ensuring that all facilities are available, prepared and safe for use as required by Retford United through effective planning and scheduling, communication, supervision, managing maintenance of machinery and equipment and allocation of resources.

This is a hands on role where the groundsman will be responsible for all aspects of preparing the pitch.

Responsibilities:

Preparation and maintenance of Jones & Co stadium pitch and training ground;

Preparing, implementing and monitoring weekly, monthly and annual maintenance programmes to ensure the required high standard of surface is maintained, taking into account budgets, priorities, level of use and standard of play;

Taking the lead role in preparation and maintenance of the pitch and desirably have the knowledge and experience to carry out this very important role;

Effective and timely communication with the chairman, office and management team of Retford United;

Ensuring all sporting programmes, timetables, fixtures and special events calendars are received and to plan preparation;

Ensuring Jones & Co Stadium and associated areas e.g. the dump/skip area are at all times kept clean and tidy, that all grounds maintenance equipment is washed and cleaned after use and that the use and clearance of the dump/skip area is monitored and managed.

Necessary skills and experience:

Experience is desirable, but someone with a good horticultural knowledge can be trained;

Experience of operation and maintenance of all grounds maintenance machinery including strimmers, pitch marking boxes, mowers, tractors and all specialised sports maintenance equipment etc. preferred but not essential.
