Badgers in search for new chairman
19th January, 2016
Retford United are looking for a new chairman and are wanting anyone interested in the position to contact the club as soon as possible.
Following the resignation of Bill Wyles in September last year, Mercy McFadden has been temporarily chairperson. It was always the intention that a new full time chairman would be appointed in due course.
A spokesperson for the Badgers said: "The club is in a stable position both on and off the field and in a perfect situation for a new chairman to get involved with the club. The club has all the assets to be successful at both the current level but also potentially at a higher level.
"When thinking about a football club chairman, people might think that the individual needs lots of money to invest in the club. Clearly additional funding will always make a difference, however more important is that someone has the time, energy, contacts and character to help create a club that is self-sustaining at NCEL level.
"Non-league clubs are usually run by a team of volunteers and supported by a group of committed sponsors. If you can rally a group of volunteers, introduce new ones, assist in creating successful events and attract local sponsors, you may be the right person for the job."
Those interested in the role of chairman or just getting involved are asked to contact Mercy McFadden by email at mmcfadd197@gmail.com.
