O'Neill steps down as Club Thorne boss

Club Thorne Colliery have announced that James O'Neill has stepped down as the NCEL Division One side's manager, ending an almost five-year spell in the dugout.
A statement released by the club on social media said: "James will remain a key part of the club in his position as a director, continuing to play an important role in shaping the future of the club both on and off the pitch.
"Since taking charge in August 2020, James has overseen 161 matches, recording an outstanding 98 wins, 27 draws, and just 36 defeats - an impressive win ratio of 61%.
"Under his leadership, the team scored 359 goals (2.23 per game) and conceded only 163 (1.01 per game).
"His tenure included the historic return to Step 6 of the Non-League Football Pyramid, the club's first time at this level in 39 years - a landmark achievement that will live long in our history.
"Beyond the numbers, James has shown a deep commitment to the development of local talent, playing a vital role in the success of the Club Thorne player pathway by integrating young players into the first team setup.
"His passion, drive, planning and attention to detail have been instrumental in continually driving the club forward.
"We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to James for the exceptional work he has done as first team manager.
"His contribution to the club has been immense and long-lasting, and we are delighted that he will continue his involvement with the club in other capacities.
"Everyone at Club Thorne Colliery wishes to thank James for his dedication, professionalism, and leadership and we look forward to continuing our journey together."
The announcement comes at the end of the club's first season back in the NCEL where they finished in a respectable eleventh position in the Division One table.
