Camm steps down at Shirebrook

27th May, 2018

Just weeks after guiding Shirebrook Town to the Toolstation NCEL Division One play-offs, manager Rob Camm and his assistants Jamie Allan and Gavin Saxby have left the Langwith Road side.

Camm guided the club to its highest position in three seasons, finishing in fifth spot before bowing out in the play-off semi-finals at eventual winners Eccleshill United.

In a statement posted by the club on social media on Saturday evening, Camm said: "I am very disappointed to announce that I will be resigning from my position of first team manager at Shirebrook Town FC.

"I have proudly served my local club for the past year and done everything in my power to help return them to the right end of the table pushing for promotion.

"In this time, we achieved and exceeded all goals we set, the attendances have been up 40% and we got the club back into the FA Cup.

"I have to thank my team - Jamie Allan and Gavin Saxby - for all of their help and support as well as the fantastic playing squad who I have shared some great times with this season.

"Unfortunately, situations off-the-field have marred what would and should have been a season to build on and celebrate.

"These goings-on have made my job almost impossible to continue and improve for the coming season so I feel now is the right time to step away.

"I would like to finish by thanking the committee for their work behind the scenes, a lot who live and breathe the club and have my utmost respect.

"Thank you again for the opportunity and good luck for the future."
