Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #59

1st March, 2026

Liversedge's lead at the top of the Macron NCEL Premier Division has grown to eleven points following their 3-1 win at play-off hopefuls Pickering Town on Saturday.

On an afternoon that saw only ten games go ahead in the league due to the ongoing bad weather, Sedge tightened their grip on the trophy thanks to a George Green double added to by Finn Donovan.

George Brown struck late on for the hosting Pikes who stay eighth but are now five points away from the top five after Tadcaster Albion's 1-1 home draw with Penistone Church.

Desmond Okoro grabbed a last-gasp equaliser for the Brewers after their visitors had taken the lead midway through the first half through Reece High.

The two other sides in the play-off positions whose matches beat the rain both tasted victory to strengthen their play-off aspirations.

Sonny Whittingham opened the scoring for third-placed Campion and Ewan Gregson added a brace as they beat visitors Thackley 3-0 whilst Barton Town were 3-1 victors at basement side Wombwell Town.

Joel Shepard and Lewis Stephens gave the Swans the perfect start as they raced into a 2-0 lead by the eighth minute before James Byford quickly halved the deficit but Ali Aydemir's 34th minute strike proved decisive.

Elsewhere, two early goals from Lucas Robinson helped Frickley Athletic to a 3-1 home win over Eccleshill United, Elliott Andrew with their other goal from the penalty spot whilst Daniel Laban netted for the Eagles.

Division One leaders Dearne & District were 4-0 victors over visitors Athersley Recreation to extend their advantage at the summit to six points.

Adam Baskerville struck twice whilst Justin Circuit and Cian Guest added to the tally to stretch the gap between themselves and second-placed Wakefield AFC whose game was called off.

Fourth and fifth-placed Harrogate Railway Athletic and Brigg Town both won to continue their pursuit of play-off places.

The Rail had the most difficult afternoon as they came from 3-0 down at the interval to win 4-3 at home to Armthorpe Welfare, Joel Learmouth, Alfie Charlotte and Jamie Simpson with the goals that had put the visitors seemingly onto an away victory.

But, the hosts got back on track in the second period, Alex Burton, Alex Ingham and James Eyles finding the net to level matters before Burton's second, on 87 minutes, grabbed them the points.

It was more straightforward for Brigg who won 4-0 at bottom side Glasshoughton Welfare, Joshua Batty's double matched by Reece York to open up a nine-point gap between the Zebras and Leeds UFCA in sixth.

Ilkley Town pulled further away from danger as Prince Attakorah and Harry Miles added to a Roan Shirley own goal as they beat visitors Winterton Rangers 3-1.

Winterton, who took the lead in the fourth minute through Charlie Colley, remain in the relegation zone, three points below the trapdoor.

And, Reece Thompson's hat-trick helped Route One Rovers to a 5-1 home win over Club Thorne Colliery after the visitors had broken the deadlock midway through the opening period through Marc Newsham.

Thompson restored parity by the half-hour mark and Zak Khan's 57th goal of the season put his side ahead in the 81st minute.

Three goals then came in stoppage time, two from Thompson and one from Anees Younis, to give Rovers a more comprehensive victory that lifts them up into eighth.
