Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #53

8th February, 2026

More bad weather made it another quieter-than-anticipated weekend in the Macron NCEL with only seven games going ahead, including a win for Liversedge that has seen them stretch their lead at the top of the Premier Division.

Kelan Swales struck in the 62nd minute to give his side a 1-0 victory at Tadcaster Albion that extends Sedge's advantage to eight points whilst the Brewers missed out on a chance to close the gap on the play-off positions.

Golcar United picked up a big win as they look to ease their relegation fears, a 5-2 triumph at Thackley has lifted them three points clear of the bottom two.

Ashley Flynn's double and an Oliver Russon goal saw them lead 3-1 at the break with Toby Marriott netting for the hosts before his second with twenty minutes remaining gave his side hope of a comeback.

But, Rion Arbouin and George Doyle put the game to bed with late strikes, the latter from the penalty spot, to give Joe Skarz's side a vital victory.

Albion Sports rescued a point with a Fernando Moke Tumba decider in stoppage time for a 3-3 home draw with Penistone Church after they had let a two-goal lead slip at Myra Shay.

Nathan Cartman got both of the Lions' goals in the opening period but Leon Hurles-Brook netted early in the second period and a double from Nathan Keightley in the last quarter-of-an-hour had seemingly given the away side the win before the late equaliser.

Sports stay sixteenth, four points clear of danger, whilst Church move up into the top half of the table.

And, Bottesford Town climb to twelfth after a Luke Ayris brace, added to by one each from Alexander Render, Jaxon Borland, Mason Chaffer and Jack McMenemy, earned them a 6-3 home win over Parkgate.

Shay Evans-Booth struck twice for the visiting Steelmen and an own goal from Alexander Render added to their tally but the defeat leaves them in ninth.

Wakefield AFC and Brigg Town strengthened their promotion ambitions with victories in two of the three Division One games that took place.

Jerome Greaves' opener was built on by a double from Ethan Kachosa and an Eliel Anku strike as Wakefield won 4-0 at Goole AFC to tighten their grip on second spot.

And, Brigg were 5-1 home victors over Maltby Main to give themselves a twelve-point cushion in the play-off zone as Jack Varley, Joshua Jordan, Jonathan Oglesby, Dayle Hutson and Joshua Batty made it a comfortable afternoon for the Zebras whilst Wilfey Woodham found the net for the Miners.

Fourth-placed Harrogate Railway Athletic, however, fell to a 3-1 defeat at South Leeds, Alex Burton with a late consolation after a superb first-half from the hosts saw them take the points with an Anane Wireko double and an injury-time third from Kieran Haigh.
