Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #51

1st February, 2026

After a frustrating midweek when all Macron NCEL games were postponed due to bad weather, it was back to action for some of our teams across the weekend.

Liversedge needed a dramatic comeback to maintain their five-point gap at the top of the Premier Division as they trailed 3-2 at home to Bottesford Town as the game edged towards stoppage time.

But, substitute George Green came off the bench to strike twice and turn the match around in the hosts' favour for a 4-3 victory.

Beverley Town remain in touching distance in second spot as they made short work of basement visitors Wombwell Town with a 6-1 scoreline.

There were two goals each for McCauley Snelgrove and James Piercy whilst Conner Harman and Jack Humphreys also got on the scoresheet for the hosts whilst Morgan James found the net for their opponents.

Handsworth are up into third as a Mitchell Dunne brace, added to by a spot kick from Alex Wonham, secured a 3-1 home victory over Rossington Main with Sam Limber getting the visitors an injury-time consolation.

A 2-1 win at home for Campion on Friday night has lifted them up into the play-off places, Sonny Whittingham and Patrick Sykes with the goals as they defeated Knaresborough Town who took the lead in the opening minute through Slater Barkham-Barnes.

Simon Heslop and Maximillian Bauer struck for Pickering Town as they beat visitors Frickley Athletic 2-0 and they move up into eighth.

And, in the other game to survive the continuing saturated conditions, Stevie Ellis pounced seven minutes from time to grab hosts Eccleshill United a 1-0 win over Albion Sports and the Eagles climb to thirteenth.

In Division One, five of the top six played and all picked up victories in their hunt for promotion places.

Only leaders Dearne & District were without a game as second-placed Wakefield AFC closed the gap to twelve points as they won 3-0 at home to Winterton Rangers on Friday night.

Owen Thomas gave them a 54th minute lead before Eliel Anku and Jerome Greaves added more polish to the scoreline with goals in stoppage time.

A hat-trick from Keelan Grist, two goals for Harrison Marvin and further strikes from Lloyd Smith and Connor Glavin ensured Worsbrough Bridge Athletic keep hold of third spot as they beat visitors Goole AFC 7-0.

Bradley Walker, Harry Atkinson, Harris Eggleston, Alex Ingham and Oliver Holt were the scorers as Harrogate Railway Athletic stay fourth after they beat visitors Louth Town 5-1, Harvey Lidgard with the sole goal for the White Wolves.

Brigg Town and Leeds UFCA were winners to remain fifth and sixth, respectively, Jack Varley and Dayle Hutson scoring for Brigg as they beat hosts Appleby Frodingham 2-0 and Lewis Harding's last-gasp winner saw UFCA prevail 1-0 at home to Club Thorne Colliery.

There were two goals for Gauderic Totap as Route One Rovers defeated visitors Nostell Miners Welfare 6-1 whilst an Akram Laslire penalty and a Tyler Polwarth strike saw South Leeds to a 3-1 win at Glasshoughton Welfare.

And, it was honours even as Ilkley Town drew 1-1 at home to Athersley Recreation, Jack Lane with a late equaliser for the hosts after Kane Reece had broken the deadlock.
