Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #46

11th January, 2026

For the second successive weekend, bad weather decimated the Macron NCEL fixtures list with only three matches played to a conclusion on a freezing Saturday afternoon.

Albion Sports' home clash with Bottesford Town on the 4G surface at Myra Shay was the only Premier Division game to kick-off.

However, the referee brought it to an early conclusion, abandoning the encounter after 57 minutes with the hosts 2-1 ahead as the surface was beginning to become dangerously slippy for the players.

In Division One, all three matches that took place ended with 2-1 victories for the hosts.

With their eighth consecutive win, Brigg Town have opened up a nine-point gap between themselves in fifth spot and the sides chasing them outside of the play-off zone.

Jake Squires gave visitors Worsbrough Bridge Athletic a twelfth-minute lead but Dayle Hutson and Jack Varley scored in the second-half to secure the points for the Zebras who move to within six points of their fourth-placed opponents.

Oliver McQuillin and James Eyles both struck as Goole AFC defeated Doncaster City, their goals sandwiching a Samuel Giles equaliser on the hour mark.

Goole stay twelfth, a place above Louth Town who climb up one spot as Will Pennell and Alex Aldrich were the scorers in their win over Ilkley Town, Peter Roberts netting a leveller for the away side in the 61st minute.

Doncaster and Ilkley stay sixteenth and fifteenth, respectively, following their defeats.
