It was a disappointing Saturday for Macron NCEL clubs in the Isuzu FA Vase as all three of our remaining sides bowed out of the competition at the Third Round stage.Liversedge came closest to making it through to the last 32 as they drew 1-1 at North Shields, Kelan Swales' 23rd minute opener for the Premier Division leaders cancelled out before their Ebac Northern League hosts progressed 6-5 on spot kicks.
Albion Sports and
Rossington Main, meanwhile, both went down 3-0 at home to North West Counties League opposition with South Liverpool and West Didsbury & Chorlton going into Monday's draw, respectively.
In the Premier Division,
Handsworth have moved up to second, closing the gap to Sedge to four points after a 2-1 home victory over
Golcar United in a game that remained goalless until the 79th minute.
Harry Jessop put the Ambers in front but the visitors quickly levelled through Rion Arbouin before Scott Ruthven's penalty secured the points for the hosts.
Ewan Gregson got both of
Campion's goals as they overcame
Sheffield 2-1 after Harrison Poulter had given the away side a first half lead, the win moving Lee Ashforth's team up to seventh whilst their opponents stay fifth.
Bottesford Town continue their rise up the table as their third straight victory lifted them into eleventh, Jaxon Borland's first-half injury-time strike enough for a single goal win over visitors
Horbury Town.
And,
Frickley Athletic surged to a 7-0 victory at
Thackley, Lucas Robinson with four of their goals with one each for Thomas Alngohuro, Ifeanyi Nnenanua and Elliott Andrew in a convincing victory that sees them up into fourteenth spot.
One Premier Division game fell foul to heavy rain as
Penistone Church's fixture at home to
Wombwell Town was called off whilst
Harrogate Railway Athletic's home clash with
Wakefield AFC and
Club Thorne Colliery's trip to
Armthorpe Welfare in Division One suffered the same fate.
In the games that went ahead in that division, it was honours even as leaders
Dearne & District played host to third-placed
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Keelan Grist had put the visitors ahead in the 40th minute from the penalty spot but Jamie Austin struck around the hour mark to ensure that honours were even.
Dearne move to seven points clear of second-placed Harrogate whilst Worsbrough remain eight points off the summit in third, five points in front of Wakefield who stay fourth.
Brigg Town,
Leeds UFCA and
Crowle Colts have maintained their places in the top seven as they all tasted victory.
Joshua Batty's hat-trick helped Brigg to a 4-3 home win over
Doncaster City with Joshua Jordan also getting on the scoresheet for the Zebras whilst Benjamin Dyer's double and a goal from Jack McKay for the visitors ensured an enthralling game at the EC Surfacing Stadium.
Kevin Gonzalez got the winner for UFCA as they beat basement hosts
Glasshoughton Welfare 2-1, the decider coming in the 74th minute, whilst a brace from Kurt Robinson went a long way to securing Crowle their 4-1 victory at
South Leeds.
Maltby Main are up into eighth after their 3-1 win at
Ilkley Town, Basile Zottos with a hat-trick for the Miners and
Goole AFC consolidated eleventh spot with a double each from Nathan Perks and Daniel Davison as they claimed a 5-2 victory over their hosts
Nostell Miners Welfare.
Jock Curran also struck twice as
Selby Town secured a 4-0 win at
Louth Town and, in what was a fantastic afternoon for away sides in the division,
Winterton Rangers have moved to within a point of safety as they beat
Athersley Recreation 3-0.
Taylor Adams, Leo Berriman and Tom Pindar all struck in the second half for Rangers in a major boost in their battle to move out of the drop zone.
