A high-scoring midweek of Macron NCEL action included a 7-6 victory for Frickley Athletic over Bottesford Town whilst Zak Khan scored six in a 9-1 home victory for Route One Rovers, taking his season's tally to 30 in all competitions.Frickley's remarkable win came in the Second Round of the JCP Construction NCEL Cup in memory of James Hitchcock, one of three ties to take place on Tuesday night.
Thomas Radley put them ahead in the twelfth minute but Jack McMenemy struck four times for visitors Bottesford to give them a seemingly unassailable lead by the interval, especially as Okera Simmonds then netted a fifth early in the second period.
But, Frickley quickly drew level as Thomas Alngohuro, player-boss Martyn Woolford, Ifeanyi Nnenanua and Samuel Cable all struck in a whirlwind seven minute spell to make it 5-5 by midway through the half.
Scott Matthews restored Bottesford's lead but two injury time goals from Cable to complete his hat-trick saw the hosts snatch the victory in dramatic fashion and make it through to the last sixteen.
They are joined at the next stage by
Horbury Town who progressed in less eventful fashion, drawing 0-0 at
Tadcaster Albion before prevailing 5-4 on penalties.
And,
Knaresborough Town won 4-2 at home to
Thackley, Ben Gelder's double along with one each from Luke Stewart and Slater Barkham-Barnes claiming the victory whilst Alex Washington and Luke Brooks scored for the Dennyboys.
In the Premier Division,
Pickering Town have climbed up to fourth, overtaking their visitors
Sheffield after beating them 2-0, Ben Leyland and Riley McGintey with the goals for the Pikes.
Penistone Church's 1-1 draw at
Wombwell Town sees them up into eighth, Kieran Ryan's 57th minute opener for them was almost immediately cancelled out by Edward Agnew.
Rossington Main have moved three points clear of the bottom two following their 5-2 win at
Parkgate, Archie Micklewaite, William Sutton, Oliver Nowak, George Noble and Dylan Mantle finding the net for them at Green Lane.
And, Nathan Cartman got both of
Albion Sports' goals as they won 2-1 at home to
Campion to lift the Lions into thirteenth.
There were victories for the top four in Division One with leaders
Dearne & District's 7-1 defeat of visitors
Armthorpe Welfare keeping them four points clear at the summit.
Jamie Austin's hat-trick was added to by Adam Baskerville, Justin Circuit, Cian Guest and Max Eastwood whilst Bayley Lowe got on the scoresheet for the visitors late on.
Elliot Holmes was the sole goalscorer as second placed
Harrogate Railway Athletic won 1-0 at home to
Brigg Town and Juninho Blake netted in stoppage time to snatch third placed
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic a 3-2 victory at
Leeds UFCA after Omar Sanyang had looked set to have rescued a point for the hosts in a thrilling game.
Wakefield AFC completed the successful midweek for the leading quartet of clubs with a 4-0 win at
Doncaster City, thanks mainly to a hat-trick from Ashley Flynn.
But, the biggest scoreline came at Myra Shay as Khan's double hat-trick and three from Reece Thompson saw them steamroller visitors
Winterton Rangers with Max Doughty grabbing a consolation for their opponents.
That win moves Rovers up into eleventh whilst Rangers stay next to bottom above
Glasshoughton Welfare who were beaten 1-0 at home by
Club Thorne Colliery, Reiss Harrison with the vital strike that lifts his side into sixth, just behind Leeds UFCA.
Kevin Gonzalez struck twice as
Ilkley Town won 4-2 at home to
Goole AFC and Charlie Austerfield was the matchwinner for
Nostell Miners Welfare as they defeated hosts
South Leeds by a single goal to move out of the bottom three.
Meanwhile, there were three home victories in the First Round of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy with Ben Kirk, Dean McCarthy and Samuel East securing
Appleby Frodingham a 3-0 win over Sleaford Town, and
Louth Town went through 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Skegness Town, Ethan Scott with the White Wolves' equaliser.
And,
Barton Town beat league rivals
Crowle Colts 4-2, Thomas Waudby with a couple of goals for the Swans whilst Thomas Garner and Alex Proctor found the net for the visitors.
