Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #16

18th September, 2025

Tadcaster Albion have maintained their four point lead at the top of the Macron NCEL Premier Division despite a 2-2 home draw with Albion Sports in midweek.

As part of a full programme of matches in the division, the Brewers needed a last minute leveller from Oliver Norman to snatch something from the game that looked to be going the Lions' way.

Twice the visitors led through Mohammed Qasim and then Nathan Cartman, only for Andrew Shepherd and then Norman to deny them an important victory that would have moved them further away from the bottom two.

Barton Town, who began Tuesday evening in second spot, could not take advantage of Tadcaster's result as they were beaten 2-1 at Parkgate, Jacob Pearson with an injury time winner for the Steelmen after Alex Wonham's opener for the hosts had been cancelled out by Lewis Stephens for the Swans.

It means Barton drop to fourth with Penistone Church replacing them in second after a Nathan Keightley brace secured them a 2-0 home victory over Bottesford Town.

And, Liversedge go up into third after Antony Brown's equaliser gave them a 1-1 draw with visitors Thackley, the away side taking the lead midway through the first half through Paul Walker.

Alexander Hardwick got both of Sheffield's goals as they prevailed 2-1 at home to Rossington Main and they climb to fifth whilst Main, whose goal came courtesy of Ross Hannah, drop to eighteenth.

Beverley Town complete the top six after McCauley Snelgrove, Matthew Plumber and Luka Suluburic netted in a 3-1 home win against Eccleshill United.

There was a stoppage time equaliser for Daniel Thirkell as Knaresborough Town drew 2-2 at Golcar United and his side are now seventh whilst their hosts stay in sixteenth spot.

Campion move up into ninth as a late Akram Lasalire double helped secure a 4-0 home victory with Jamie Allsop and Nicky Boshell earlier getting on the scoresheet against Frickley Athletic.

They go above Pickering Town who were held to a 4-4 draw in a remarkable game with visitors Horbury Town, Joe Jagger with a hat-trick for the away side, a feat matched for the Pikes by Souleymane Coulibaly, his third another of the midweek's last gasp goals.

And, Scott Ruthven also provided late drama as he grabbed a winner in the dying seconds for Handsworth as they defeated Wombwell Town 3-2 at the Express Worktops Stadium at Handsworth Junior Sporting Club.

The top two in Division One met with Harrogate Railway Athletic prevailing 3-1 at home to Dearne & District to cut the gap at the top to one point.

Dominic Creamer and Alex Burton had the Rail 2-0 up by the hour mark before the visitors came back through Jamie Austin but any hopes of a full fightback were halted when Burton grabbed his second and his side's third with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic have tightened their grip on third spot after a Jake Squires double helped them to a 4-0 home win over Winterton Rangers.

Josh Brown and Harrison Marvin added to the away side's problems with Rangers now five points adrift at the foot of the table.

Wakefield AFC and Crowle Colts remain fourth and fifth after goalless draws at home to Club Thorne Colliery and away at Doncaster City, respectively.

There was also a 0-0 scoreline in the match between Leeds UFCA and their visitors Brigg Town whilst Harry Clapham's opener for Selby Town was cancelled out by an own goal from Charlie Petch as the Robins drew 1-1 at home to Goole AFC.

Harry Middleton, Shay Evans-Booth and Mohammed Ibrahim found the net for Maltby Main in a 3-0 home triumph over Athersley Recreation to lift them into seventh spot.

There were two goals each for Anees Younis and Tawheed Ahmed as Route One Rovers beat visitors South Leeds 4-0.

Next-to-bottom Glasshoughton Welfare put some much-needed daylight between themselves and the basement with a 3-2 home win against Louth Town, Lewis Shillito with the decider five minutes from time.

And, Thomas Booth popped up to score a last minute equaliser for Nostell Miners Welfare in a 3-3 draw at Ilkley Town.

Meanwhile, this season's county cup ties got underway with a defeat for Armthorpe Welfare as they were beaten 3-0 by Hall Green United in the First Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.
