14th September, 2025

Pickering Town's run in the Emirates FA Cup, and the Macron NCEL's participation in this season's competition, came to an end on Saturday as the Pikes were beaten 2-0 at home by Runcorn Linnets.

The Second Round Qualifying tie at Mill Lane was broadcast live on BBC iPlayer but Tony Hackworth's side could not provide an upset in front of the cameras and a crowd of 1,206.

They conceded midway through the first half to their Step 4 visitors before the encounter was sealed with a second for Linnets in the 84th minute.

In the Premier Division, Tadcaster Albion have extended their lead at the summit to four points after a 3-1 win at Bottesford Town.

Oliver Norman and Oli Johnson gave them a two-goal cushion in the opening period before Luke Ayris halved the deficit midway through the second half and Matthew Mulhearn secured the victory for the Brewers in the 83rd minute.

Tadcaster's advantage at the top grew as the other two sides in the top three, Barton Town and Liversedge, met at the Easy Buy Stadium in a clash that ended goalless.

Samuel Scrivens was the matchwinner for Penistone Church as they beat hosts Thackley 1-0 to climb up into fourth, above Knaresborough Town who drew 1-1 at home with Parkgate.

Jack Dyche put them ahead in the 19th minute only for Harry Day to level for the Steelmen in first half stoppage time.

Sheffield drew 0-0 at Wombwell Town in one of two matches that took place on Friday night, a point that sees them up into sixth spot.

The other game played that evening saw Campion come away with a 3-2 victory over visitors Horbury Town.

Jahro Parchment's 67th minute winner came after they had twice seen a lead cancelled out by their opponents who were desperate to get points that would move them off the bottom of the table.

In the other games played on Saturday, McCauley Snelgrove struck a hat-trick as Beverley Town won 4-1 at Albion Sports and his side jump up to eighth.

Zackary Sangster, Mark Ferguson and Junior Nasihunu were the scorers for Eccleshill United as they beat visitors Handsworth 3-0 whilst George Doyle and Zachary Rushworth both netted twice as Golcar United leapt out of the bottom two with a 6-1 win at Frickley Athletic.

In Division One, Dearne & District won 3-0 at home to Glasshoughton Welfare, a Jamie Austin brace added to by Theo Wainman, to increase their advantage at the top to four points.

Second-placed Harrogate Railway Athletic took an early two goal lead through a quickfire Alex Burton double but conceded a Reagan Waud hat-trick in the final ten minutes to lose 3-2 to visitors Doncaster City.

Keelan Grist's goal on the hour secured Worsbrough Bridge Athletic a 2-1 win at Club Thorne Colliery that sees them up into third spot above Wakefield AFC who went down by the same scoreline at Brigg Town.

Mason Ellender's first goal for the Zebras set the home side on their way with Joshua Jordan also finding the net before Ashley Flynn struck for Wakefield early in the second period.

Joe Simpson and Lewis Graham pounced in the last ten minutes to turn a 1-0 deficit at Goole AFC into a 2-1 win for Crowle Colts that moves them up into fifth.

Winterton Rangers stay propping up the rest as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Selby Town, Daniel Davison with the decider with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.

But, there were vital wins for Appleby Frodingham and Nostell Miners Welfare to move further away from the basement.

Joshua Fraiwald and Harry Lewis ensured a 3-1 victory for App-Frod at Athersley Recreation in a game that was level at 1-1 by the interval.

And, Jack Maeer, Charlie Austerfield and Jamie Miller all scored in the opening half-hour as Nostell also won 3-1, beating visitors Maltby Main.

Zak Khan's late double, taking his season's tally to eighteen, snatched Route One Rovers a 4-2 win at Louth Town in a game that seemed destined for a draw with three minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, it ended in honours even as Armthorpe Welfare and Leeds UFCA shared six goals.

Charlie Clegg scored twice for Welfare and Ify Ofoegbu did the same for the visitors to make it 2-2 before Jaydan Sandhu put UFCA ahead in the 77th minute only for Cole Patrick to ensure the spoils were shared soon after.
