The Quarter-Finals of this season's JCP Construction League Cup got underway in midweek with Knaresborough Town and Penistone Church moving through to the next stage in a couple of tightly-contested ties.

Theodore Hudsdon's third minute strike was enough to send Knaresborough into the last four in a 1-0 home victory over Hallam whilst Penistone's match with visitors Handsworth ended in a 1-1 draw.

Samuel Scrivens gave the hosts an early lead but Tom Bishop pounced with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining that meant the encounter had to be decided by spot kicks which Church won 5-4.

In the NCEL Premier Division, Golcar United's 3-0 home win against Beverley Town moves them to within three points of leaders Silsden AFC.

George Doyle and Alfie Wilkinson struck in quick succession towards the end of the first period before Callum Petch made sure of the victory with their third in second half stoppage time.

Golcar climb up into second spot whilst Beverley remain sixth and have lost ground on Thackley and Albion Sports in the chase for a play-off spot.

Thackley won 3-0 at home to Winterton Rangers, Luke Rhodes, Slater Barnes and Ben Grech-Brooksbank with the strikes that gives the Dennyboys a six point cushion in fourth over Beverley.

And, a Nathan Cartman hat-trick secured Sports a 3-2 victory at home to Tadcaster Albion having twice trailed through Jamie Tomlinson's opener and then a T'nique Fishley own goal.

Winterton, meanwhile, drop to the bottom of the table as they have been overtaken by Goole AFC who won 2-1 against visitors Barton Town, James Eyles with both of the Vikings' goals whilst Finn Abraham scored for the away side.

Parkgate narrowly edged out hosts Campion in a 4-3 victory, Ashton Stringer, Sam Eckhardt, Harry Day and Jacob Pearson netting for the Steelmen in an enthralling game that saw home goals for Covenant Ofoegbu, Harvey Booth and Mackenzie Fraser.

And, Hass Gorji and Idris Atta struck at the beginning of each half as Eccleshill United won 2-1 at home to Bottesford Town, Aristides Cunha converting a late penalty for a consolation for the Poachers.

In Division One, Wakefield AFC and Wombwell Town both won to keep the pressure on table toppers Horbury Town.

Keelan Swales, Curtis Morrison, Muhamet Gashi and Kiyani Clayton scored for Wakefield to close the gap to the leaders to five points with three games in hand.

Third-placed Wombwell are a further three points behind, but also with three games in hand, after Jack Dando found the net in a 1-0 victory at Athersley Recreation.

Worsbrough stay fifth, behind Brigg Town on goal difference, after the Zebras also tasted defeat, beaten 2-1 at Club Thorne Colliery despite taking an early lead through Harrison Coley.

Jordan Buckham and Jacob McLoughlin struck either side of the interval to give the hosts the win that keeps them in thirteenth.

Ilkley Town are now just points away from the play-off zone after their 3-0 home win over Louth Town, Alex Knox and Nicholas Brayshaw pressing home the advantage after an own goal broke the deadlock.

Appleby Frodingham strolled to a 5-0 victory against visitors Yorkshire Amateur as the division's bottom two sides met, Nathan Jarman's double added to by Ben Kirk, Isaac Archer and Joel Chapman in a game that was goalless until the last twenty minutes.

Dronfield Town remain in the drop zone as, despite goals from Max Rhodes, they went down 3-2 at home to Armthorpe Welfare, Ahren Rogers, William Gomes and Marc Newsham scoring for the away side.

And, Shelley's home game with Nostell Miners Welfare was called off at half-time with the hosts leading 2-0 - an investigation is underway the reasons behind the abandonment.
