Silsden AFC have extended their lead at the top of the NCEL Premier Division to twelve points as they made it seventeen unbeaten games in a row with their 1-0 win at neighbours Albion Sports on Monday.Casey Stewart struck the only goal of the game midway through the first half to keep the momentum going on what is currently a seemingly unstoppable charge to the title by the Cobbydalers but there is still plenty of time for others to mount a challenge.
It was the first of three games in the division this midweek with
Barton Town and then
Hallam picking up convincing away victories on the following nights.
Harry Lovick's hat-trick helped Barton to a 4-0 win at
Frickley Athletic to move the Swans up into twelfth on Tuesday with Oliver Baldwin also getting on the scoresheet.
Frickley remain eight points clear of the drop zone, ahead of
Winterton Rangers who were beaten 5-0 by Hallam 24 hours later.
Rio Allan's double, added to by one each from Brodie Litchfield and Leon Howarth, gave the Countrymen a 4-0 cushion by the interval and their tally was added to in the second period by Jack Brownell.
Hallam now have a four point cushion in the play-off zone as the race to finish in the top five in the hunt for promotion begins to heat up in the cold winter months.
In Division One, there were five games on Tuesday night with
Brigg Town consolidating second spot as they won 5-1 at home to
Yorkshire Amateur.
Ben Vazquez, Ashton Coley and Joshua Jordan netted to give the Zebras a 3-0 lead before Harry Abson opened the scoring for the visitors but it was the hosts who were spurred on to add to the scoreline through Leon Osborne and Scott Hutchinson.
The Ammers drop to the bottom of the table, overtaken by
Appleby Frodingham who won 2-1 at home to
Dronfield Town who remain just outside of the relegation zone.
A massive three points for the home side came courtesy of goals for Joshua Fraiwald and Henry Curtis after the visitors had broken the deadlock on 21 minutes through Arran Bovill.
The other side in the bottom three,
Louth Town, drew 1-1 at home with
South Leeds, Adam Millson grabbing them a late equaliser after James Law's first half opener.
Louth are now just three points away from Dronfield and safety whilst South Leeds climb to sixth, two points from the play-off positions.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic won 2-0 at
Glasshoughton Welfare, Keelan Grist with both of their goals, to move them up into seventh in the chase for the top five.
A hat-trick from Caden-Rylee McGrath helped
Selby Town to a 5-1 victory at
Nostell Miners Welfare, Matthew Dawes and Harry Clapham also on the scoresheet for the Robins whilst Gracjan Klimczak had struck an equaliser for the hosts.
Meanwhile, there was an all-NCEL West Riding County Cup Quarter-Final as an own goal, plus strikes from Ethan Crossley and Jack Mason saw home side
Campion progress 3-1 against Premier Division rivals
Tadcaster Albion.
And, there were two Division One games postponed due to waterlogged pitches with Club Thorne Colliery's home game with
Wombwell Town and
Shelley's trip to
Maltby Main called off.
