Knaresborough Town have moved to ten points clear of the NCEL Premier Division drop zone as they picked up a vital home win over play-off chasing Albion Sports in Tuesday night's action.Benjamin Parkes broke the deadlock in the opening five minutes with Adam Priestley securing a 2-0 victory when he doubled the home side's advantage midway through the second period.
Knaresborough climb to seventeenth whilst Sports remain in seventh, four points away from the top five.
Armthorpe Welfare won by the same scoreline to increase the gap between themselves to the bottom three in Division One also to ten points and they go up to fourteenth in the table.
Mitchell Pattinson and Alfie Charlotte struck in the first half as they took the points from their trip to
Athersley Recreation who stay eleventh.
In County Cup action, a massive crowd of 1,496 watched
Hallam's home victory over neighbours Sheffield in the Quarter-Finals of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.
Ties between the two sides always provoke massive interest due to their history and this one proved to be no exception.
It began at a breakneck speed with James Cadman giving Hallam a third minute lead before they were quickly pegged back by their visitors.
