NCEL Match Review 2024/25 #39

12th December, 2024

Albion Sports have become the second NCEL side to make it through to the Fourth Round of this season's Isuzu FA Vase.

A goal in either half from Nathan Cartman - one in the 37th minute, the other with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining - saw them triumph 2-0 at North West Counties League hosts South Liverpool.

They join Hallam in the next stage whilst Silsden AFC hope to make it a trio of our clubs in the last 32 when they play their rearranged tie at West Didsbury & Chorlton on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Ilkley Town caused an upset in the West Riding County Cup as they won 5-0 at Ossett United in their Second Round encounter.

Finlay Ellis and Alfie Dean gave them a two-goal advantage by the break before Dean's second and further strikes from Luke Baldwin and Kevin Gonzalez extended their lead in the second period to knock out their Pitching In Northern Premier League opposition.

Meanwhile, there were two games in the NCEL Premier Division as table-toppers Silsden were held to a 2-2 draw by visitors Tadcaster Albion.

Casey Stewart and Luke Brooksbank twice gave the Cobbydalers the lead as they looked to extend their eleven match winning streak in the league.

But, the Brewers battled back firstly through an Elliott Andrew penalty and then Junayd Cassius-Gill ensured the spoils were shared with ten minutes remaining.

And, Campion were 3-1 home winners over Rossington Main to move up to eighth in the table.

Ewan Gregson cancelled out Main's early opener from Oliver Nowak before the hosts grabbed the win with a brace in the final ten minutes from Covenant Ofoegbu.
