The Third Round of the JCP Construction League Cup got underway whilst the top two in the Premier Division pulled further away from the chasing pack with wins in the midweek NCEL action.Knaresborough Town and
Handsworth were the first teams to make it through to the final eight of the cup as they both won on their travels.
Adam Priestley grabbed Knaresborough's 85th minute winner after the Premier Division side came from behind at Division One hosts
Selby Town to take a 2-1 victory.
Harry Clapham struck midway through the first half for the Robins before Dominic Creamer levelled matters early in the second period for Knaresborough.
Handsworth, meanwhile, were 3-1 victors at
Thackley, Scott Ruthven and Mitchell Dunne putting them 2-0 up by the break with Slater Barnes halving the deficit in the 50th minute and Dunne's second securing the win with his side's third in stoppage time.
Silsden AFC stay top of the Premier Division after their 3-2 home win over
Pickering Town although they were pegged back from an early 2-0 lead, courtesy of a Ellis Hudson penalty and Kayle Price's strike in the opening sixteen minutes.
The visitors rallied with Joe Wood netting before the interval and George Brown restoring parity around the hour mark but Silsden took the points with Price's second midway through the second period for a 3-2 win.
Second-placed
Golcar United remain two points off the summit but have stretched their advantage over third-placed
Penistone Church to six points after Oliver Russon and James North scored in their 2-1 victory at
Hallam.
Alfie Smith had given the home side an eleventh minute lead but the Countrymen stay seventh after ultimately finding themselves on the losing end of the tussle at Sandygate.
In County Cup action,
Beverley Town go through to the Third Round of the East Riding Senior Cup as goals from Oliver Baldwin, Luka Suluburic and Jacob Hill secured a 3-1 home win over Sculcoates Amateurs.
Meanwhile, in the Second Round of the West Riding County Cup,
Tadcaster Albion beat hosts
Horbury Town 4-1 in the all-NCEL tie with Daniel Thirkell, Jordan Hines, Raeece Ellington and Junayd Cassius-Gill putting the game beyond the home side before a late consolation by Samuel Hobson for the Division One leaders.
And, despite taking a half-hour lead through Scott Smith,
Wakefield AFC were knocked out of the competition with a 2-1 home loss to Barnoldswick Town.
