Beverley Town have moved to within four points of the top five in the NCEL Premier Division following their 2-1 midweek home victory over Bottesford Town.

The game was scoreless until the 53rd minute when Cameron Connelly broke the deadlock for the hosts but the Poachers levelled matters through Josh Eccles on the hour mark.

But, with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, Alexander Markham grabbed what proved to be the winner for the home side to move them closer to the play-off zone.

Campion climb to ninth after their single-goal win over visitors Goole AFC, Harry Varley with the decider with twenty minutes remaining to move them up two places whilst the Vikings remain in the basement.

And, Frickley Athletic were the big movers as their 3-0 home victory over fourth-placed visitors Thackley saw them rise five places to tenth.

All of the goals came in the final half-hour with Robert Guilfoyle and Joel Spencer's strikes added to by a Jack Varley penalty to give Tom Claisse a winning start in charge of the Blues.

In Division One, Maltby Main leapfrogged Athersley Recreation to go above them into fifth spot by beating them 2-1 at home, Joshua Stead's late double grabbing the points after a Steven Taylor own goal had given the visitors a first-half lead.

And, Harley Holt snatched an injury-time equaliser for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic in a 2-2 draw at Louth Town that leaves the sides thirteenth and eighteenth, respectively.

Lloyd Smith had given Worsbrough a 49th minute lead but Harrison Dunn restored parity and then Jordan Smith put the hosts in front before the late leveller meant the spoils were shared.

Elsewhere, in an all-NCEL West Riding County Cup First Round tie, Wakefield AFC dispatched Club Thorne Colliery 2-0, Jack Durkin and Akeel Francis netting in the game that was played at Gainsborough Trinity due to ongoing changing room problems at Thorne.

And, in the Second Round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup, Dronfield Town were beaten 5-0 by visitors Glossop North End in a game where all of the goals came in the last half-hour.
