Horbury Town and Selby Town caused upsets in the midweek Second Round ties of this season's JPC Construction League Cup as the two Division One sides knocked out Premier Division opposition.Horbury were single goal winners at home to
Tadcaster Albion, James Cusworth with the solitary strike midway through the second period, whilst Selby were 2-1 victors at
Winterton Rangers.
Daniel Walker had put Rangers ahead in the 27th minute but parity was immediately restored by Matthew Dawes and Harrison Rowley grabbed what proved to be the winner for the Robins just past the hour mark.
Beverley Town avoided a similar banana skin as they won 6-2 at
Louth Town, thanks to two goals each for Jacob Hill and Edward Birch whilst McCauley Snelgrove and Cameron Connelly also got on the scoresheet.
Adam Millson and Alfie Usher struck early in the second half for the White Wolves to reduce the deficit back to 3-2 but it was their Premier Division visitors who added to their tally and progressed.
And,
Bottesford Town also went through at the expense of Division One hosts as a Lewis Smith double, sandwiching a Jonathan Nyantou strike, saw them through 3-1 at
South Leeds with Mohammad Sadiq netting for the hosts.
In one of the three all-Premier Division ties,
Knaresborough Town waltzed through with an 8-1 win over visitors
Eccleshill United, Cameron Bedford's hat-trick added to by one each for Sam Cook, Daniel McDaid, Luke Stewart, Adam Priestley and Jack Steers.
Calum Ward amd Iren Wilson both scored twice for
Hallam as they won 6-2 at home to
Frickley Athletic, Christopher Salt and Rio Allan also getting on the scoresheet for the Countrymen with Jamie Tomlinson and Luke Williams netting for the away side.
And,
Silsden AFC went through 3-2 at the expense of visitors
Goole AFC, Luke Brooksbank's opener for the hosts cancelled out by an Ellis Hudson own goal before Cody Cromack and Thomas Greaves struck either side of half-time to put the home side in control and Alexander Widdup grabbed the Vikings' second in the 76th minute.
An all-Division One encounter went to penalties after
Wakefield AFC and
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic played out a 2-2 draw, the Briggers going ahead first through Joshua Brown before Kenan McKenzie-Gray and James Eyles gave Wakefield the advantage and the scores were then brought back level again through Owen Cooke.
In the shoot-out, it was Worsbrough who prevailed, winning 7-6 on spot kicks to book their place in the last sixteen.
Meanwhile, there was one Division One game, with
Maltby Main's 2-0 victory at
Nostell Miners Welfare moving them up into fourth spot.
Ashley Flynn opened the scoring on the hour mark and Haydn Ward made sure in the last ten minutes of the victory that lifts the Miners into the top five whilst Nostell remain in nineteenth.
