Campion pushed Blyth Spartans to the limit but ultimately the NCEL Premier Division side bowed out of this season's Emirates FA Cup with a 3-1 extra time loss in midweek.

They travelled to their Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division hosts hoping to cause a major upset by beating a team two levels above them in the National League System.

As in their first encounter on Saturday, it was Campion who took the lead, this time through Aidan Kirby on 21 minutes.

And again, like at the weekend, Blyth responded with an equaliser, Joao Gomes-Carrington levelling just after the hour mark and, with the game once again at 1-1 after ninety minutes, a further half-hour was required.

Sadly, this was where the home side's higher-ranked status prevailed as they struck twice in extra time through Harry Gardiner and Gomes-Carrington's second to send Campion out with an honourable defeat.

The Second Round of the JCP Construction League Cup got underway as Division One side Brigg Town hosted Premier Division visitors Rossington Main in a tight game that was decided on a penalty shoot-out.

Joshua Batty put the home team in front but parity was restored just before half-time by Lewis Graham and then Ashley Worsfold gave Main the lead with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.

Jacob Norburn, though, pounced in stoppage time to level matters 2-2 and so it went to spot kicks that Rossington won 5-4 to become the first side into the Third Round.

In the Premier Division, leaders Penistone Church have extended their advantage at the summit to four points after a 2-2 home draw with Handsworth.

Nathan Keightley and Leon Hurles-Brook struck in quick succession to give them a 2-0 advantage around the half-hour but Scott Ruthven halved the deficit for the Ambers before the interval and then grabbed an 81st minute equaliser to ensure the spoils were shared.

Second-placed Golcar United, meanwhile, dropped their first points of the league campaign as they went down 3-2 at Albion Sports.

The hosts snatched the victory with a second of the evening from Nathan Cartman deep in stoppage time after Golcar had pulled themselves back from 2-0 down to level with early second-half goals from Shane Killock and Slater Barnes.

Silsden AFC have moved up into fourth following their 3-2 win at Bottesford Town, Kayle Price, Mohamed Conteh and Thomas Greaves netting the visitors' goals whilst Aristides Cunha took his tally in all competition to eleven by getting on the scoresheet twice for the hosts.

A Kieran Stares hat-trick ensured a 3-1 win for Pickering Town who climb to fifth after their victory at Parkgate.

A 3-0 victory at Goole AFC for Thackley sees them up into seventh behind Handsworth, Finn Donovan, Ben Grech-Brooksbank and Muhammet Tektas scoring for the Dennyboys.

Tadcaster Albion missed out on a chance to go second as they were beaten 4-0 at Knaresborough Town and instead drop to eighth.

The home side claimed the win thanks to a George Thewlis opener, a Fatlum Ibrahimi own goal, and then strikes from James Beaston and Adam Priestley.

Barton Town drew 1-1 with visitors Frickley Athletic, Elliot Broughton cancelling out Robert Guilfoyle's first-half opener for the away side.

But, the most remarkable game was at the Servo Group Stadium where hosts Eccleshill United edged out Beverley Town in an eleven-goal thriller.

Cameron Connelly put the visitors in front on eighteen minutes with Idris Atta equalising on 39 before McCauley Snelgrove quickly restoried Beverley's advantage.

Then, there were three goals in first half stoppage time to make it 3-3 at the interval, Atta's second and a Marcus Harper strike for Eccleshill whilst Connelly got his second for Beverley.

Edward Birch put the away side back in front early in the second half, Atta completed his hat-trick to make it 4-4 and Eccleshill went 6-4 up with goals from Mohammed Farhan Subhani and Talent Ndlovu by the 73rd minute.

Bobby Attree scored Beverley's fifth on 83 but they could not find an equaliser and it was the hosts who took the points with a breathtaking 6-5 victory.

In Division One, Horbury Town have returned to second spot following a 4-0 win at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

Billy Mole gave them a half-time lead before Gibril Bojan doubled their advantage and two injury-time strikes from James Cusworth and Isaac Donlon leant the scoreline a more one-sided feeling.

Maltby Main jump up into seventh after a Wade Ripley double and an Ashley Flynn strike in a 3-1 home victory over Yorkshire Amateur.

And, Glasshoughton Welfare's first win of the season came in a 3-0 defeat of hosts Appleby Frodingham with Alexander Clarke scoring twice and Samuel Nelson also adding to their tally.
